LOL! They probably said, "that 'dmehus' character on Internet forums predicted a 2.00% HISA and 2.25% GIC rate, we better give them an extra 0.10% on each just so we don't match his predictions exactly."

It was obviously going to happen because other small places lowered their rates a few weeks ago. Plus as deposits rise they lower their teaser rates. Prime example Manulife Bank.

They also, in last few weeks, substantially cut rates for their Escalator GICs.

For someone (like me), who keeps his RRSP and TFSA with Tangerine, now it makes very little sense to transfer those to Motus, which is what I had in plans.

Their will be all kinds of promotions by the end of the year and beginning of 2020 for RRSP and TAX free Accounts from all the financial institutions including the Banks.

Nothing to worry about.
