Where did you find that information?
My bad. I must have been using a stale link because every time I tried to login to the refer a friend link I was using I just got a blank screen. I just assumed (as I say my bad) the offer had been withdrawn. I just today received an email from Motive advertising the offer was still good until Oct 31.

According to their FAQ, cheque deposit is by ATM or by mail:
How do I deposit a cheque into my Motive account?
There are two ways that you can deposit a cheque into your Motive accounts:
- Using an ATM in the EXCHANGE® network
- Mailing your cheque to us with your Motive account number on the memo line and using the address below

Applying to this FI seems very frustrating. How does a referral code bypass issues with application approval? If your application is declined that'll affect your credit score.
I also see there's no mention on the terms, conditions, limitations, and fees like transaction fees, hold times, and more in this thread. FI websites intentionally make it difficult to navigate and find clear and transparent information. I understand some will always disagree.

I am pleased to report that I received two interest payments: one for 3.6% and the other for 2.15%, so the total is 5.75%. The interest calculations didn't include the last day of October, October 31st.
I also have bad news. I failed to link Motive Savvy Savings account (transit 03909, institution 030, account 10101xxxxxxx) from Tangerine. Is it possible? I got the following error message:

Heads up everyone. It looks like Motive is lowering the combined promotional rate to 5.35%. Their main page is promoting 5.35%; however, the details still lists the 3.60% base rate + the 2.15% promotional rate.
Thanks for the heads up. Is this rate effective starting November 1st? I'm in the process of moving funds from Simplii to Motive. If this is true, the 5.35% is still a good rate based on the overall market but I could still be getting 5.50% with Simplii's promotional offer until November 15th.

Are you located in Alberta, the location of CWB?
If not, then that is most likely the explanation. The quick work-around solution is:
1) Temporarily change your home address to an Albertan one.
2) Set up the link
3) Change your address back to your original (correct) address

As HermanH said, Tangerine doesn't allow linking banks when the branch is in another province. You can also link to Tangerine from Motive's end. I did this with the Money Transfer Authorization form on https://www.motivefinancial.com/en/forms, and it took 3 business days to get fully setup.

Well, from reading up so far, National Bank bought Canada Western Bank which Motive is it's child.
External linking of accounts is a PIA. The app is garbage and won't save your login info like all credit union apps which use the same app.
It'll be interesting to see what happens in 2025 when NB completes the transition and what part Motive plays. Might not be wise to transfer more than the CDIC limit if anything.
