Logged into my account today and noticed $200 had been mysteriously withdrawn. I spoke to a CSR who informed me that Motive Financial was experiencing some type of technical issue with transfers. The $200 was a transfer (pulled from Motive) from my Tangerine account (money left Tangerine) which was deposited and immediately withdrawn from my Motive account. I was just told to "not worry about it" and that the money will "show up" in a few days. I'm a new Motive client and my confidence in this institution is already shattered. I was going to transfer in a much larger amount but once the $200 "shows up" I think I'm going to pull everything (~ 2K).

Just a heads up for everyone else, check your Motive account!

Hello 4n2t0! Not sure if my situation is the same as yours but I was never able to set up proper transfers between Tangerine and Motive. I tried several years ago to set up Motive as one of my 3 links on Tangerine. Everything seemed confirmed with the usual micro deposits. However, when it came time to do an actual transfer, it looked like it worked and then got reversed the next day. I called both Motive and Tangerine and they both blamed each other. So no, I was never able to push money from Tangerine to Motive. I ended up removing the link at Tangerine because it was a waste to keep it there. I think I only have links on the Motive side at this point. Perhaps you are experiencing the same thing? I have kept my Motive accounts to make use of promos as they occur. Their savings account rate is also pretty good.

this issue has happened to me when I tried to link HSBC to Tang before as well. The microdeposit went thru successfully and stay at HSBC, but any subsequent actual linked transfer will go thru and then reverse the next day or 2. So it may not be a Motive issue, but rather to do with Tang having a beefier yet faulty mechanism when it comes to real transfer, after the micro deposit test was successful.
One time Tang even removed my other FI that has been linked for years, and only do I ask them WTF is happening do that put it back in.

Just to be clear...

1) I pulled this money in using Motive's website, it wasn't pushed out from Tangerine's website.

2) My Tangerine account shows a successful EFT withdrawal to CWD and my account is lighter by $200.

I could be wrong but this doesn't look like a Tangerine issue. Everything on Tangerine's end seems properly executed.

Thanks for that post. I needed to move about $1,000 between Motive and Tangerine, so decided to use Interac instead of EFT.
No issues.

Would make sense, at least for some time until this settles down, to use Interac for small amounts transfers.

As of this morning at Motive !

Motive is a scary place to bank these days , they don't return calls wait times are awful and now their system is suspect.
They were my 2nd choice after Tang for HISA but that requires a rethink now !

11 am Eastern time - login successful. Everything with my account is in order.

I wonder if they are briefly taking system offline to fix whatever problems they experience.

That special notice is gone now ... https://www.motivefinancial.com/en/

However, I'll continue to refrain from any activity at Motive for the time being.

My wife and I both got phone calls from Motive apologizing for the temporary screwups on our accounts. Money was deposited then reversed then deposited again. It involved a Tangerine transfer and an interest credit for the month, so not just a Tang issue. It was all okay in the end.
