I'm not certain if there's something with my account but over the last month any outgoing interac e-transfers take 29-32 minutes for the recipient to receive the funds. I understand larger amounts above $100 are subject to the maximum delay but with other FIs like Tangerine and Simplii outgoing interac e-transfers with small amounts of less than $100 are received within seconds.

Has anyone else experienced this with Motive?

Interac CAN take up to 30 mins in general. This is not unique to Motive but is a design of Interac.

I surmise that they have batch processing that kicks in every 30 mins, as opposed to instantaneous. So, the closer you are to the end of the 30 mins cycle, the faster it will seem.

I’ve found Motive always takes 30 minutes no matter the amount, be it $1 or more. Never have I seen it take less than that in the almost six years I’ve been banking with them.

Yes Motive takes 30 min so does Tangerine. On contrary my Wealth Simple e-transfer arrives almost instantly literally within seconds. Sending the same amount.

As others have said, even for a $1 the transaction takes 30 minutes when initiated at Motive. I did another test moments ago. Sending to Motive was instant. The amount was $160. Sending from Motive $1 amount is consistently 30 minutes. Not a minute less.

I've confirmed with sellers and vendors who advertise e-transfer where they said it's instant with most FIs whenever it's a small amount. That's how interac normally works. I'm not aware of interac outside Canada. Other countries use different platforms.

Interac mentions e-transfers are usually instant but can take up to 30 minutes.

No. I just did a transfer from Tangerine to Motive, it was instant. The amount does matter though.

Usually if you send less than $250 from tangerine it’s instant.
I sent $3k from WS and it is instant but when I sent the same amount from tangerine it’s 30 min.

I don't know if you actually sent an e-transfer for $1 or if the number is just "representative" of a low amount. I thought you could not send anything that small. Pretty sure I was stopped from sending a small amount from Tangerine. Not sure if it was interac or Tangerine who restricted me.

Tangerine’s minimum e-Transfer limit is $5. Others may have their own minimums like Manulife which is $10. Motive and Simplii don’t seem to have a minimum.
