. . . Its a total insult to the potential customer, but they don't care as it just an online saving account, and they have limitless other customers.
One things for sure ... Motive isn't worth getting one's Knickers-In-A-Knot.
It's time to walk away.

Doug: We can add the moves to sell Home Bank/Trust and HSBC to the recent shakeout list.
InterestThis: The new standard in customer service may be heralded by Twitter's policy of responding to almost everything and everyone with a poop emoji.
AI selection, "Good Police Work" and Targeted Offers are nothing short of institutionalized profiling, which incorporates racial, gender and regional discrimination.

Good points. I agree with all of it.

Similar thing happened to me too. I got the reply
Unfortunately, at this time we can't approve your application. If you'd like to apply to Motive Financial again, you may do so in six months.
Worth noting, they also hard pulled my Equifax credit report. My credit report score is not high, but there are no missed payment records on it.
As some mentioned that, there might be an IDENTITY THEFT mark, I guess my moving to a new home may triggered their flag.

Interesting, I didn't even get a credit inquiry.
I guess Motive failed to fetch your credit report, or accidentally they fetched someone else's report. That's why you didn't get a credit inquiry.

Motive does not care in the least, and doesn't want to know about it.
I agree with that. They didn't give me a chance to explain my situation. I assume Motive think the cost of further investigation is higher than getting a new customer

As was mentioned previously, if you feel that strongly that you've been treated improperly, why not proceed with their complaint handling process which is clearly described and outlined on their web page:

As previously mentioned, did that complaint report, and Motive Financial ignores that as well.
Since you are NOT a customer yet, they ignore you.
Why post this? As when a company like Motive behaves badly, its good to let the public know.
Even Loblaws Points when there is an error, is 100x more responsive than Motive.
In recent memory, I have never been treated in such a disrepectful way than by Motive Financial, and its proper to let that be known. Motive is clearly a poorly run company, at least in this respect.

OK. So, they don't want to do business with you. Just move on, go elsewhere ...

There is no point in an explanation.
An explanation, that you had moved recently and that's why the address on the application doesn't match the address from your Equifax file, isn't going to satisfy FINTRAC requirements for identity verification.
I'd wait until the address in the Equifax file is updated with the new address and apply again.
An ombudsman complaint would not be helpful if that is the reason. Ombudsman will likely find that Motive refuses applications where the person's address cannot be confirmed by credit file method.

What Norman says is correct. It also demonstrates that the credit agencies have too much unregulated power, to which there is no appeal except a laborious process of trying to convince said agencies of the truth and hope they get it right next time. Their files are full of errors. My own file has been a joke for many years although, fortunately, these particular errors have not affected me - yet.
The agencies essentially work for the financial industry, not the consumer. You are guilty until proven innocent.

Why are you telling me what I should do?
If I want to give Motive Financial a bad review, as they have bad service, I am going to give them a bad review.
Its odd, as I asked in this thread if anyone else had this happen to them. I didn't ask for advice on me leaving a complaint about them.

I wasn't trying to convince you not to complain but rather suggesting you might consider not trying to do business with them anymore.

easy big boy, assume you are indeed big 🙂
You can leave all the bad review you want, none of us will get hurt by it, Motive neither. Just no need to chew up on fellow forum members here, we have done you no wrong....

I have had to correct errors in my credit files; I first suspected attempts on my credit when some verification questions from a financial institution had no answers that matched my past. In the end, the first attack proved to be in 2010, though it was unsuccessful and it was some years later when a declined card led to the changes to the credit agencies' records. I was not a credit user in any other way, so I never worried about the scores.
Everything happened by snail-mail. They requested I mail ID proof and then reasonably promptly updated the records, sending me copies of my file. But, of course, no credit scores; those they sell.
I once did get a credit score quote - accidentally. A phone agent (won't say where) once blurted out, "Hey, your credit score is ***." When I mentioned this in a later conversation, another agent said that should never have happened.

I just added an account for Meridian for a 5.75% rate. It took a couple minutes, no issues at all, earning interest already with an e-transfer.
Motive Financial is a piece of junk. Rating = F.
Meridian rejected my application last month and gave no reason. lol. I have accounts with several FIs and this was a first for me.
