Yay! I think you were just in the nick of time. Tomorrow will likely be a different story.

I also want to thank you for mentioning this to us on this forum otherwise I would never find out or find out late about that today was the last day for 5 years 3.75% GIC.

Glad I could help. I think others did as well.

Thanks to Norman for more details on finding out one's access-to-cash limits. I missed part of this thread earlier. I should really check into this. It sounds to me like policies have been updated since I last looked.

Top It Up, I think many branches of many of the banks have eliminated the greeter-type person to whom you refer. They were very helpful, and really saved us time. I deal with CIBC and TD. They both used to have one. Neither does now despite TD branch being doubled in size and another branch eliminated. It has lots of overstuffed armchairs that nobody sits in because they're all standing in lines or waiting at counters. I do know of an RBC branch that still has such a person as I go there with an elderly relative; she gets an A for helpfulness.

Also financial advisory told me that it will take only 3 days to transfer funds from EQ to Meridian. sf-confused

Great!
The 3.75% offer has now disappeared from Meridian's website - reduced to 2.60%.

I requested opening a new TFSA on Jan 6th. It is not yet open but let's see if they will open or say it is expired. The request was before the expiry so they should honor it.

Shall see.
