Further to the Financial Post Article of 2016, Meridian has now posted an update on their website outlining their plans and vision for their National Bank called Modus Bank, in early 2019.

Modus Bank is expected to operate as an online bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Meridian Credit Union, in all Provinces including Quebec.

Modus Bank would fall under CDIC for deposit insurable limits as opposed to Meridian Credit Union that falls under DICO limits.

'There’s not a lot of Canadian love for the Big Five banks, but we think there can be a lot of love for a Meridian version,' says CEO Bill Maurin.

Can't wait. I abandoned big banks a decade ago. My only current business with a big bank is my AMEX with Scotia Bank which will be cancelled in 1 month (Before 1 year renewal) 🙂

I wonder if it is going to be modusfinancial.com since it looks like it may be the same owner owns this site that owns meridiancu.ca

Not sure though, just speculating.
