I am not sure what this is going to change. They offer everyone including Quebec residents the chance to open an account through their online banking.

The only things they can't offer are LIRA locked in Quebec and QC provincial bonus for an RESP account.

I'm not sure either. They said at one point that rates would be the same. And we all know insurance coverage is less with CDIC thean with DICO.
I can only presume they think this will somehow provide greater national penetration, particularly for people who don't feel as positively about DICO as they do about CDIC.
I recall, for example, that MB CUs are not permitted to advertise outside MB, but can take memberships from elsewhere. Does the same thing apply to Ontario CUs? Has Meridian CU been advertising outside of Ontario?
It doesn't seem to have made much difference to Coast yet.

Maybe they are trying to be the next Tangerine or Simplii?
I wish them all the best so far they have been great to me and I hope they remain the same after becoming very popular.
