i didn't know they had a wait list at Meridian, but have not pursued this option anyway.
I have not dealt with a deposit broker for RIFs, so can't say for sure. However, my expectation is that this would not help with the mandatory withdrawals. Once the broker has helped you place your money, they don't really have a role except to contact you again when it matures. The RIF is held at the FI in question, and I think it would be up to each of them to take out the mandatory amount.
The broker doesn't hold the account per se, only customers. I would compare it to a fee-only advisor vs an account with an investment house.

The last Class A share offering is presently oversubscribed. I know this because I have been placed on a waiting list to participate in the offering. While the Meridian website still has a live link available for the offering, it is not for any newly available Class A Investment shares. Just to be placed on the waiting list.
Does anyone here have any idea if Meridian will be offering another series in the next year or so? What is their usual number of years between offerings? My TFSA GIC matures in January of 2020, so I am considering allocating those funds to Meridian. Particularly here, a Meridian Investment Share offering if one is available at that time. Thanks.
