Have not done much transfer out from Meridian until now. When they say it will take 3 biz days, it is more like it will take at least 3 biz days as oppose to ‘at most 3 biz days’ like other CUs. Initiate a transfer out on the weekend and it is still in limbo. My account balance vs what is available is exactly the amount I am trying to transfer out. Other CUs can do it much faster than Meridian….

This has long been one of Meridian's biggest weaknesses.
From experience, I can say 4 days is normal for them and occasionally even 5.
The time has long past when they should have updated this.
Plan accordingly.

Open a chequing account at Meridian, move funds from savings to chequing and write a cheque to move funds same day. Too bad that this process is needed instead of transfers out that are quick and for any amount.

Yes, cheques are a good alternative. I always get a chequing account if it's free, to facilitate transfers, especially large ones.
