On June 15th I logged into my Meridian account & using their so called money mover option pulled money out from a linked account at another FI. The amount showed in my Meridian account on June 19th but the amount showed as not available. I need to have access to that money to pay a scheduled Visa payment that is set to come out of the account on June 24th. I called Meridian just to make sure the hold would be gone by June 24th & to my shock was told the hold would be on until July 2nd. So from start to finish it will be more than one month.

I signed up at a Meridian branch in Ottawa many years ago for a great GIC promo. I dealt with a young kid to sign up. I remember that he knew less than me regarding finances. I actually showed him this website in his office & he was simply amazed at the available information. Once the promo GIC expired I transferred out the entire amount & closed my account. Haven't been back since.

You really need to have cheques with Meridian to move your money out - their "Money Mover" system is abysmal - perhaps the slowest around. I found Meridian to be behind the times - not progressive - wonder if they will start to close any of their many branches.

In this case I was trying to move money in from a savings account at the other FI.
