I have an RRSP GIC maturing shortly & reached out via email to Mcan for a transfer form in order to move the matured amount to Mcan & invest in their 5yr GIC at 3.70%. I got a reply that said "We are currently only offering individual non-registered GICs (no RRSPs)."

Yup . . .

They're a Good outfit with Great rates ... but their offerings are Limited.

I don't have any GICs with them yet, but I do own their stock (MKP),
and I love that Sweet 8+% Dividend. sf-smile

The strange part is my wife through GIC Wealth Management bought a 2yr GIC within an RRSP account at Mcan in April 2022. Go figure.

The deposit broker channel is different than their direct MCAN Wealth channel. Rate for five-year is 3.70% direct and 3.40% to 3.50% through deposit brokers.

Looks like their direct channel is still a work in progress. MCAN could also offer RRSP GIC's through their direct channel if they offer them through their deposit broker channel.

What Norman said

MCAN offering GICs 'Directly', is less than a year old. When I talked to one of their CSRs late last year, I was told there were no plans in the works (at that time) to go beyond non-registered GICs, but that could change in the future.

And the last time I checked, they still don't offer a savings account. Some see that as no-big-deal, but when dealing with an FI, I like to have that option available.

I guess we'll just have to wait-and-see if & when they go beyond their present offerings.
