Further to my posting "Maxa: A Nightmare to Deal With", describing the the horrendous frustration of dealing with Maxa; they won't mail you a statement or GIC confirmation; and their website doesn't work.
Well wonder of wonders!!! They now "fixed" their website and it's even worse than before!! :yell: All of my GICs ended up with $500 missing from each of them!! So I called them to find out where all the $$$ disappeared to. The poor lady on the other end of the line at Maxa couldn't really explain it. She said she didn't know why they did it that way, but she thought it might have something to do with the fact that you must have a minimum deposit of $500 to take out a GIC. So they summarily deducted $500 from everyones GICs!!! :yell: She says she has had a lot of phone calls about that. And what is Maxa going to do about the $$$ they deducted from my GICs?? Nothing! Time to quietly hang up and get on with my day. :frown:
I'm not known for demonstrating a passive nature when dealing with messed up financial matters like this; and my wife who was in the office with me, listening to the conversation, grilled me after I hung up, wanting to know why I didn't say anything further. Some people and organizations are so utterly stoooopid, that there is no point in wasting your breath!!
I just want to get my $$$ outta Maxa as quickly as possible! I have never before dealt with such an inept bunch of time-wasting nitwits!!

kilarney, (I like that name. 🙂
At 70 years of age, 'One' of the problems I have to consider, is the simplifying the transfer of my estate. For the most part, I think I have my office and important papers so well organized, that there shouldn't be a problem. But . .
Just in case, I know my family will be receiving regular statements from various financial institutions such as Peoples Trust, Achieva, Outlook, etal; but with zero paper ever coming in from from Maxa, I perceive that as a needless additional burden, especially when many of the numbers have been fudged! 😕

I phoned Maxa about the same issue too. I have GIC's with them. It was weird that 500 was taken off, they did send me an e-mail statement though, showing it was all correct, I haven't thought about it too much until I read the discussions, they told me the had some quirks with the new system.
I liked their rates, all I have is GIC"S with them so I am hoping that the interest and such will be smooth, I needed long term GIC's to complete my ladder and Maxa'a were the best rates so I am in it for the long term. They told me you can get statements by e-mail if you want a paper statement instead of the online.

Those amounts showing $500 less on GICs are just in one of the popdown menus on the search screen. Just some minor glitch in the new system, not something to get your knickers in a knot over. The actual amounts show fine on the page showing your accounts.
Maxa is fine to deal with. They email my GIC confirmations in pdf format and I have a printer at home if I want a hardcopy. The new website lets you generate your own statements. Under account activity, select advanced options. They let you download in many kinds of formats including Quicken and Microsoft Money. If you want a conventional dead-tree monthly statement you can download it in pdf format and print it.
I just don't see any of this anti-Maxa hyperbole as being warranted.
