I recently logged into my Manulife Bank account to verify my balances and noticed that one of my near empty Advantage Accounts has a promo rate of 5.15% to February 26, 2025. I do not have an advisor nor was I advised of this promotion. I called Manulife and they confirmed that this account is part of the promotion. I have exactly 2 Advantage accounts, each set up for a particular past promo. So you may wish to check and see if you have received this offer without being notified, even if you have no advisor.

Got the same offer, seems according to the T&Cs it started on October 29th. Maximum $500,000 on new deposits only.
I have two Advantage accounts, they both have the offer, even though the T&Cs stipulate it only applies to one account. Maybe a glitch.
The base interest rate floats, a BoC rate change will potentially change the total promotional interest on offer.

The offer was reported on another site RedFlagDeals: Manulife Advantage 5.15% Promo Existing Clients Only YMMV.
Bonus 3% (regular 2.15% + 3% = 5.15%) on new money for targeted existing clients.

Tried setting an account up with them. Seems like it was successful but the I logged out and back in again and it says something went wrong. I called Manulife and they say you need an advisor to open an account with them. Is this correct? Thanks
I had a similar experience a little while ago... To the best of my knowledge you can sign up online ... if their "AI" likes you, otherwise you need an advisor. I did not bother visiting an advisor, at least not yet. There are so many FIs out there who are more than happy to get my business.

A Manulife advisor is not required to open a Manulife Bank Advantage account. One can open an Advantage account online oneself.
However, if Manulife Bank is not able to verify one's identity using online methods acceptable to FINTRAC, then one will need to go through an advisor who can use one of the face-to-face methods to verify identity.
In the past few years, Manulife Bank has invested to be able to use more methods to verify identity online. The bank has the required software now to verify passports and provincial ID's online and also match the selfie taken with the phone to the photo on the passport or provincial ID.
The bank also uses the Interac verification service to offer one the option to verify ID though an existing financial institution one uses.
