do they charge fees on accounts after 4mths is over if all funds withdrawn. required to open savings n chequing accts both? before just savings

The 2% offer only applies to the Canadian Dollar Manulife Advantage account, a combined chequing and savings account.
Withdrawing all the funds will cause minimum monthly balance to fall below $1,000 for that month. There will be ATM withdrawal and debit card fees. However, transferring out and pre-authorized debits are still free.

Just to clarify: Is it 2% yearly, right?
So for the first 4 months, the real capital gain will be (deposited_sum)*0.02/3 ?

Yes. Not 4 months, but 120 days. Plus probably piddles, if interest is credited monthly. Different topic: I am still waiting for the "team" to call me, re aggregate max for two account, one in person's A name, the other is B+A, B being primary. TANG-no go; some others-OK.

Please note when you log-in to your Manulife account, you will see two options to open a new account. The correct option for the 2% promo is the one on the right.BTW: I made the near fatal mistake of initialing choosing the option on the left. Fortunately, we caught this mistake when I called Manulife and spoke to a live human.
To get the promo you dont login into ur existing manulife account you open a new one no?

Wrong. Existing clients should first log into existing account and choose option on left hand side to open new advantage savings account and the promo should appear.

It worked the other way to new account open showin promo 1.85 +.15 without login into existing acct. Maybe can open more than one promo account anyone try?

U mean Manu has been offering promos to existing clients under "new accounts" all a long once they sign in nobody said

On my second attempt, I logged into my account and chose the option on the right to open the new Advantage account.

What the.. way i did new advan account not logged in asked for soft credit check promo got. When i loggin i can open another promo acct it seems

I did the same thing on my first attempt and the system opened two new accounts. I called Manulife Bank and spoke to a human who said that neither one of those two accounts qualify for the 2% promotion.
On my second attempt, I logged in and chose the option on the right and that worked.

I had 1 account with them from 2 years ago when they had the new account promo back then. Closed it Jan this year.
Looks like I need to reapply as if I am a brand new customer, as the access card is no longer valid either.
Guess I will wait till around mid Jun to apply for new account, since Tangerine will end Jun30.

The access card can handle only two accounts so I had to close one of my older accounts in order to accommodate the new advantage account opened for the current promotion.

plus CDIC good for 100k only regardless how many acct one has.

The two accounts I opened in error were cancelled by the live agent.
I then logged back in and chose the option on the right to open the new Advantage account when I click on that account it did show the 1.85% plus 0.15% and the start and end dates.

Same as you I also asked an agent about increasing the $250,000 by opening a second account. He said that would work only if it is in a different name than the first one.
I guess one could try and open a second Advantage account. The risk is that one might discover later that the funds earned only 0.15% interest.
