GIC rates are down to 2.30% for 1 yr., ranging to 2.70% for 5 yrs.
Reminder about their high and extensive service fees.

Luminus Financial
2.85% ISA
2.75% 1 yr GIC
5 yr escalator GIC up to 5.50% (5 yr average of 3.50%)
I can’t find these rates online but if they’re still advertising these rates in a daily paper do they have to honour them?

It would seem they ought to honour them if they're advertising them. This week alone, we have seen confusing and/or contradictory messages from Meridian, ManuLife, and now Luminus, so I guess it's anybody's guess.
Luminus did have these rates for a while, so it's likely they just haven't updated their ad. I'd be expecting a "Correction" notice in the paper soon - after they get calls from people like us asking for the rates! They might give them to a few people today, but probably at their discretion.
I just looked at the ad in the paper and it does say "Limited time offer".
- very limited, no doubt!

My spouse phoned them and they refused to honour the rates in the ad.
They claimed it was an error on their part but would not do anything to keep a client happy.
I wonder how much the ad cost them.
