If you are talking about TDDI as a brokerage, then yes, a number of MMFs and Cash ETFs would pay better than TDB8150.

Any good MMF and Cash ETFs suggestions @ TDDI?
Thank you.

Whoa, very cool, thanks!
I'd move everything from TDB8150 ISA into the TDB2913 MMF (6 figures). Unless it's not considered wise?

Wait, the TDB2913's 0.28% MER vs. TDB8150 (which is zero) kind of kills the deal. Oh well, no free lunch :).

TDB8150 currently gives %4.55 whereas TDB2914 gives %5.07 with an MER of %0.25. Therefore, it's still a better option.

Quoted yields are net of MER. Thus TDB2914 MMF has a net yield of 5.07% to the investor regardless of MER.

FWIW, TDB8150 is A series ISA (deposit account) with a trailer fee (MER) of 0.25% (net yield 4.55%). TDB8151 is F series ISA (deposit account) with a trailer fee of zero (net yield 4.8%). I believe TDDI prevents DIY investors from purchasing F series, i.e. only available through third party advisors.

Note the 'Minimum Investment' required in TDB2914. And also note that over time, returns Vary for both TDB2913 & TDB2914.

Ah, I didn't know that the quoted yields are after MER. Thanks for clarifying on this!
That's super cool, and TDB2914 (5.07% yield, 0.25% MER, which @Okisavings has suggested) is even better than the TDB2913 (5.04% yield, 0.28% MER, which @MG has suggested).

FWIW, TDB8150 is A series ISA (deposit account) with a trailer fee (MER) of 0.25% (net yield 4.55%). TDB8151 is F series ISA (deposit account) with a trailer fee of zero (net yield 4.8%). Yes, precisely. Trying TDAM's / TDDI's F-series ISAs was my first attempt at buying, but I wasn't allowed. I also tried other Canadian Money Market Mutual Funds offered by TDDI, from non-TD issuers, which has even better 1-year returns (NPP119, CIB238, CIB237, BMO95142, CIG4113, RBF5120), but they were either F-series, or not F-series but TDDI not allowing a direct switch (showing an error message like "Mutual Fund selected to switch to is not in the same class).

Btw, the TDDI's "Research" section of the WebBroker portal, lists the TDB2194 and TDB2193 with 4.95% 1-year return. It's curious as to why they don't show the yield as a standard column, instead of 1-year return? Is there a way to configure that?

Also, where does one find TDDI ISA "Mutual Funds" via the same "Research" section of their portal? They seem to be listed neither under "Canadian Money Market" (doh), nor under "Fixed Income", and I could find find them only by typing their exact Mutual Fund Code. Is there a easier way to do it, and which gives you the whole list (as alternative to going to https://www.td.com/ca/en/asset-management/additional-solutions/ )?

I've just placed the order on TDDI, for a TDB8150 => TDB2194 switch! For both CAD-margin and CAD-TFSA accounts.
Thank you to: @MG, @Okisavings @AltaRed.

Thanks for pointing out the 100k Minimum Investment requirement for the TDB2914. This probably explained the "Premium Money Market" suffix in its name / description. Not a problem in my case.

And yeah, we have to monitor the returns from time to time, as the Money Market funds can follow the ... market interest rates ... more dynamically. I guess that's applicable to some extent to ISAs too?
And hopefully MM funds cannot "break the dollar" :).

Ouch, didn't pay attention to that. What percentage as per investment objective / AUM is invested in Commercial Paper?

Thanks.

one can dig up the filings as I never buy that stuff.

on $500k deposit. yearly return:

5% = 25,000 (at Itrade you have 5 ISA each CDIC protection @$100k)

4.55% =22,750k (not sure how many ISA TDDI has)

5.07% = 25,350 (no CDIC)

You will need to look it up for each MMF that you might consider. The percentage holdings may be quite dynamic as holdings have short maturities and thus they are turned over quickly. It is the nature of the beast. I doubt any one has lost any money from a reputable provider of money market funds. Their reputations are at stake.

I was talking about MMFs, not individual issuers of CP that might be holdings within the MMF. With one or two exceptions I believe in the USA, the MMFs themselves have not broken $10 (or $1) as the case may be. None of them have failed.

Yes, it is a good place to park money. I have actually purchased this from CIBC Investor's Edge with no commission.

One US retail MM fund broke the buck during 2008-9 if I remembered correctly, none in Canada.

It has been used by many, for many years. I would not hesitate to invest in it.

Here is a chronology of the year-long effort to revive the ABCP market after it seized up in the summer of 2007.
