Any idea where I could find the terms sheets of listed Bonds (e.g. Fortis, Hydro One, the big Banks, Government of Canada)? My discount broker is only providing very little information. Thanks, Frank
I'd probably go to the issuer's website, look under their debt securities page, and find out what issues they have outstanding or, if they're not outstanding yet, check their recent news releases. You should see a unique identifier like a CUSIP ID and other particulars that you can then use to go to SEDAR (SEDAR+ launches July 25th, by the way) and search from there.
Cheers,
Doug

Most bonds are not listed on any exchange. That includes those mentioned bonds of Fortis, Hydro One, the big banks, and Government of Canada.
Retail investors usually buy bonds from an inventory their investment dealer has for reselling. There is usually no competitive asks from existing holders as there would be for a stock that trades on an exchange.
The fine print for Government of Canada bonds and treasury bills are at Legal Terms and Conditions for Government of Canada Domestic Debt Securities.
The legal text is not that relevant for typical bond investors. Typically, investors look at the maturity date, the coupon, the current price, and the resulting yield to maturity of Government of Canada bonds. That's why brokers don't supply much more than that.
