Based on my google search it appears:

Only RY and BNS offers T5 online (for bank accounts).
CIBC, BMO, NA T5s are snail mail only (again talking bank accounts only)
TD There is no definite answer,as even google search does not say it one way or the other.

For those that banks with TD, can you confirm TD bank accounts are also snail mail only ?

And for the other big 6, did I get it right ? I am only familiar with CIBC and for sure they are snail mail only.

A friend does not believe me and keep saying its 2024 and they upload to CRA online, so it MUST be available online from all the big 6....

All online brokerages big 6 or not, T3, T5, T5008 are all available online is my underestading.

Issuers upload an XML document of the T5 slip fields to CRA. Issuers don't upload those printable PDF files of the T5 slips to CRA.

Issuers need to produce those PDF files separately, if they wish to offer them to clients for download. There no need to produce those PDF files if the issuer directs their software to print the slips on a printer.

I agree with Norman1 that it is two different things: 1) one is a data dump issuers sent to CRA which ultimately makes it to being posted on CRA MyAccount, and 2) issuers themselves decide whether they make downloadable PDFs online for account holders or snail mail them.

I can confirm both BNS and RY make banking T5s available online in downloadable PDF form but I believe that may only be the case IF one also receives their statements and other communications digitally online.

thank you for confirming BNS and RY are indeed available online as my google search also indicates.

Now I like to be proven wrong that CIBC, BMO and TD are also available digitally.

Except one would imagine its much cheaper to provide a soft copy than print and snail mail a hard copy.
Or maybe they are still legally obligated to provide hard copy, even tho in this time and day, most if not all is easier to access soft than hard copy, and most file their tax return electronically anyway. If one is registered as a "digital only" bank with no physical branch, then may be they are NOT legally required to do so ?
With banks looking at cutting cost all the time, I am amazed they still keep snail mail as their default / only option ??

TDDI (their brokerage arm) makes T5 slips available online. I only have a chequing account with the banking side (no interest), but everything I see indicates they don't provide online T5 slips there. Tangerine, EQ, Oaken, Access/Hubert all have T5s online, Peoples Trust doesn't.

Incidentally, presumably due to the non-passage of that altered capital gains provision and the extensions to various filing deadlines, but between myself and someone else I know, we only have one T5 currently showing at CRA. That's from Access CU (Hubert), processed March 3. We have a bunch of other paper and/or online T5 slips from various other institutions, none of which have been processed by CRA yet (which makes Auto-fill moot). Does anyone know if institutions are holding off on the CRA submission of T5s (even in cases where only simple interest is being reported) in case of possible capital gains adjustments, or is CRA either backlogged, or holding off processing T5s themselves?

I think that unless the account holder has agreed to (signed up for) electronic communications, such as electronic statements in PDF form in online banking, the FI will have to snail mail the tax slips. Why some FIs would still insist on snail mail of tax slips even if an account holder has agreed to electronic statements online is a mystery to me. It certainly does not help snowbirds trying to do their taxes in AZ or FL.

@NorthernRaven, I don't think anyone has any idea why tax slip data is notoriously slow being posted on MyAccount. Banking T5s for deposit accounts have no cap gains issues to contend with so that is not what is holding matters up. Regardless, I don't count on having any tax slips on MyAccount when doing my taxes anyway. Our tax returns are actually now ready to be Netfiled.

Just to add, CRA makes it explicit it's the filer's ultimate responsibility to make sure ALL slips are included. Whether it posts on CRA or not or use their import function is not the excuse if something ends up missing. The import function from CRA is offered as a convenience feature, not a "you can use this to blame CRA" excuse.
For example, one of my hedge fund slip is always populated wrong on the CRA website. It is simply a more rare form and CRA never spend the time nor effort to make sure it's proper.

I have also found the CRA My Account to be incomplete and late in posting.
Two years ago I omitted from my T1 a T5 from Hubert/Access. Hubert Access was going through their disorganized amalgamation and sent out their T5s many weeks after Feb 28 and it was not recorded on My Account until at least May1.
I did my T1 April 30, and I missed that T5 not having received a hardcopy or seeing it on My Account - I ended up paying significant late interest and penalty in regard to the Hubert Access T5.
I will certainly recheck My Account through May this year just to see if there are some late postings - just to ensure I don't miss declaring something.

I have a checklist based on the previous year's record, updated to reflect current year changes, of expected tax slips that I tick off to be certain. For the most part, I typically have 0-1 changes per year anyway. Last year's tax return listing of tax slips is another cross check.

Sorry, Hubert/Access are the only T5 that CRA is actually showing for me yet, and I accidentally added them to the list of those with online access.

Oaken wanted to refuse to mail my slips until I pointed out that was required by law. I got the slips.

lol. No problem. That’s another subject for sure. CRA listed slips are pathetic….I have Hubert/Access, CPP, OAS, and I think my company pension. So much for auto fill. There is a deadline for T slip delivery and I wonder why not one for showing online at CRA. I assume whoever produces them, that they are simultaneously uploaded to CRA as well? After going through the T5 fiasco of stupidity at Hubert/Access I know they can make slip on CRA “disappear” very quickly. I am still waiting for that error (screw up) to be resolved 13 months later.

And another subject, when will CRA show our 2024 TFSA contributions? Then remove the “warning” and give some true and accurate numbers.

CRA My Account did a posting update March 31, 2025. 2 T3s which I expect to see have not been recorded on My Account as of today April 1, however, I do have one of the T3 in hardcopy. Not a panic since I have until June 1 to file my return because of capital dispositions.
