You cannot Force people to have phone and use apps or whatever.
Unless government provides very basic phones which can handle calls/sms and limited number of apps with NO CPU power to run idiotic games or watch movies.

It's not "force", one can choose to continue to use a physical card, except risking most establishment may not accept it, and the card company can charge a $$$ to issue one, if one insists.
Just like whoever wants to keep an old fashioned land line, Bell is not giving u a discount if u insist u want one.

Virtual cash and credit card only will happen when the majory of those who resent technology advancement are out of the way. It will be like a paper map vs google map....

You can pay Canada Post for "Hold Mail" so all your mail goes to your designated post office and you pick up from there. You can also for free have "Flex Delivery" so all your goods ordered online go to a designated post office.

An option if you don't trust your local Super Mailbox or delivery person or if you are in the process of moving or travelling.

Some financial institutions have SIN (or part of it) in their list of questions to validate callers. I just say "not on the phone" and they move on to other questions.

I personally strongly oppose using a SIN when it is not legally required.

Could you confirm whether the agent can still see the SIN (or part of it) even if a request is made to change to other security questions?

BTC: I don't know if the rep can see SIN or SIN fragments, but every financial institution is obligated to obtain and use a client's SIN. If they're going to check it against files, they have to be able to know what you tell them so it can be verified.

In the past, verification schemes that ask for part of a password have been compromised by multiple attempts providing enough parts to assemble the complete password.

There are also some systems that switch the user's call to a separate, non-CSR-visible system to verify, then switch back to the CSR call.

My reluctance is solely to avoid insecure phone interaction. And it avoids all the above vulnerabilities.

Interesting the SIN is mentioned. I am almost 100% sure they can only see the last 3 digits, as thats has been the only ask ever. U ever have them as for middle 3 digits, I dont.

Even for postal code, I think some shows all, some shows partial.
The other day I was asked for the letters of my postal code, and after I gave the person full postal codes, he repeats letters only. So obv hes not only not smart enuf to pick out the letters himself, and just want to match what I say against what he sees on his screen lol

Keep in mind that the first part of a SIN can be guessed from an person's address - though they may no longer live where their card was issued.

I'm expecting T5's from 9 organizations.

The only ones in my CRA accounts as of today are Motus.

I am able to access online a number of others with Simplii missing completely.

When is the deadline where they have to be in my CRA account?

That should be the simplest solution and I see no reason why they should not be mandated to be there early February with the only exception being the RRSP contributions which have a later deadline.

my understanding is the FI has to provide to client by Feb28. not sure if they need to send to CRA by that date as well. Even if they are required to upload to CRA by Feb28, it's up to CRA processing to post to your profile, and that means official deadline is before Apr30 🙂

I believe tax slips like T4 and T5 only have to be postmarked by Feb 28 and/or posted online by the issuer by Feb 28. For those sent by snail mail, they could take a few additional days to be delivered by Canada Post.

I doubt there is any requirement for them to be posted on CRA MyAccount by any particular date. CRA may not receive them (electronically in bulk mode) from issuers until Feb 28 and it could then take days or weeks for them to make it to each individual's MyAccount. Imagine 100-200 million tax slips hitting CRA's computers on Feb 28th.

I don't do a MyAccount cross check until mid-March for T4as/T5s/T5008s and mid-April for T3s.

As long as I receive them All by the end of Feb ... I'm good with that.

No need to get our knickers in a knot. sf-smile

Cheerio 4 Now,

Well ... my knickers are still not in a knot yet, but I'm still waiting for my T5s from Hubert and Motive. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be available online.

Has anyone received their T5s yet, from Hubert & Motive ?

Access was hard copy, Motive was soft copy last year. No for both.

Thanks Alexandra

I live 'Out In The Sticks' of S.E. BC, so my Hubert T5 will probably arrive (sometime?) next week.

As for Motive's T5s ... they seem to remain an Unknown Mystery. sf-confused

No mention of Hubert on the T5 slip for Hubert.

Payer is Access Credit Union in Winkler, Manitoba. The slip was actually not mailed in Manitoba. Sorting codes on the envelope back indicate that it entered Canada Post somewhere in postal code region 'V'. That region is British Columbia.

It is not that unusual for the postmark location for tax slips to be somewhere other than the home location of the issuer, if for no other reason than this exercise is sometimes contracted out to other firms.
