I have some sad news to report...the initial Director of Greetings (D.O.G.), Gallagher, of Sunova Credit Union (Hubert Financial's parent institution), sadly passed away last year.
I knew they'd "hired" a young pup in Bill, but just assumed Bill was to be the third D.O.G., joining the original Gallagher, or Gally as he was affectionately known, and Lily. Unfortunately, Gallagher had passed away.
Below is a screenshot of the Facebook post announcing this sad news.

Sunova is still the only CU/Bank I know of that simply wants to do things differently. They do have a few D.O.G. i thought.. Safestore 24/7 automated and biometric safety deposit boxes.. and I swear they use that damn old school shoot you see in a hospital etc to move the money to drive thru.. Something like that..

Yeah, the SafeStore 24/7 safe deposit boxes at select branches are a totally cool idea - the only other FI I know that does that is Metro Bank in the United Kingdom (which was started by the founder of Commerce Bancorp in the U.S., which TD acquired a number of years ago and used as their leading platform to build upon their Banknorth acquisition and build out their U.S. franchise, which now has more branches than in Canada).
They have Bill and Lily as their two D.O.G.s now.
What do you mean by, "they use that damn old school shoot you see in a hospital etc to move the money to drive thru"?

Doug

a pneumatic air sytem or pneumatic tube system for drivethru (which is manned by a teller at Sunova).. Same as in hospitals ive seen them.. No idea if they still use them lol..
You mean, for depositing money? Their drive-thru ATM has envelope-free depositing and the funds go through the tubes to the teller? Wow! I guess hospitals would use them, but where I first saw those was at Costco.
Cool!

The main Royal Bank branch in Toronto (in the gold building downtown) used vacuum tubes for their so-called "TV banking" service back in 1978, which was sort of an ATM in its day. The bank kiosk was on the lower underground walkway level and the tellers were a few floors above you in the RBC branch proper, so if you wanted e.g. to deposit a cheque or take out some cash, they used vacuum tubes to suck your documents up to them and then push whatever back down to you. Worked great -- I thought it was pretty cool at the time but for some reason it didn't catch on

Interesting! Guess it was a bit ahead of its time.
