Have things changed at Hubert in the last year wrt linking external accounts? I see many posts suggesting the ability to push funds out of Hubert to another FI, but for the life of me, I can't find any way to link external accounts to my Hubert profile. Likewise, all attempts to link my Hubert account to my Tangerine profile have failed (both with their Plaid system and manually).

If you're trying to link external accounts from Hubert end their representative told me to go to http://www.happysavings.ca.

Click on upper right tab to drop down options.

Click on Forms and Agreements

Click on External Account Link Authorization Form and follow steps.

And how could anything go wrongly? You still get the two test transactions from Tang to confirm proper linkage. I don't see any way things could go awry.

@HermanH, Actually I tried years ago to set up a link to Motive Financial from Tangerine. And yes the two test transactions worked. And I made a transfer and apparently it was successful - until it was not! It was reversed the next day. When I called Motive, they blamed Tangerine. When I called Tangerine, they blamed Motive. I actually have a link at Motive that allows me to transfer to Tangerine but I cannot transfer from Tangerine to Motive. All I am saying is that test transactions or even a screen confirmation is not the final proof.

I setup my Hubert HISA as an external link at my Tangerine account a few years before the Access merger. I can confirm that I use that connection regularly. It still works just fine...

Old ones will work, but you will not be able to create a new link if you don't live in MB, without mailing in documents. Maybe changing your address temporarily is another option if you are comfortable trying that out.

That's fair.

When it became clear that post merger, some functionality might disappear, I added my Hubert HISA as links in my EQB and OAK accounts for additional insurance. Just in case. They still work too...

I don't disagree with you, at all. Sorry to hear about all the grief in your case. I remember, when you first reported it on the forum. Eventually, my Oaken problems were resolved with less consequences than yours; all my required transactions were made and the erroneous/extraneous ones deleted properly. (Fingers are crossed that none of them are reversed in the future!)

I wonder how long a transaction actually needs to be finished before it truly can be considered final, with no possibility of reversal by either bank. (I seem to remember some discussion over how fraudulent cheques might be reversed years in the future.) Sounds like a Norman1-level question. sf-smile

How long depends on the transaction and the reason for trying to reverse it.

In a previous discussion, cheques were discussed. Six years are allowed for reporting that a cheque wasn't cashed by the intended payee. But, only up to 90 days for reporting a duplicate cheque (cheque cashed more than once).

With a wire transfer, the sender can't retrieve the funds afterwards without the recipient's agreement.
