Curious, since you already called, why didn't you ask them to transfer the fund to your external account directly over the phone?
I have a 3 month term on a 1 year GIC due next week. I will ask them to transfer entire balance to my external account after I see the interest payment.

I had tested a $1 pull but I wanted a much bigger DIY test. And, I wanted those $ to go to Oaken.
Besides, as much as I like talking to pleasant and effective Hubert/Access CSR's, I want DIY functionality

Yes... the whole system is really screwed up!
I had 1y GIC 3-months term today. No interest showed up.
Called agent and was informed interest is processed BUT will appear on account tomorrow. Agent was ABLE to tell me exact interest I will receive and that matched what I track in my Excel sheet to the cent.
Since I wanted to redo all my GIC with better interest, process is as following:
- Call agent
- Tell him/her you want to collapse GIC #such-and-such.
--- Agent assured me WHEN GIC is collapsed interest will be automatically added and the whole amount (principal+accrued interest) will be transferred to my HISA.
- I bit a bullet and asked agent to collapse all my GIC.
- After consolidating all GICs+interests called again with instructions how to spread funds to new GICs.
- Agent again assured me that instructions will be executed today but if they are way too busy all will be done next business day (tomorrow) and backdated.
- Logged in the evening and all was done per my instructions. Since my instructions (collapse and open) were most likely consolidated into one message I did not have a chance to see total on my HISA but at the end all matched and was done as I was expected.
Unfortunately agent you talk to on the phone does not do any processing as it was case with old Hubert but instructions are sent to 'back office' or similar.
Talked to two different agents and have to say both were VERY PROFESSIONAL and reassuring everything will be done as per my instructions. It will be interesting to see will interest appear in a statement but NOT being able to see interest right away is really BAD business. It is a pain for customers and agents to go GIC by GIC and tell you what interest is. So I definitely suggest in case you do have GICs to track everything in spreadsheet and know exactly what to expect.
Yes, I am staying with Hubert for a time being as I am sick and tired to jump from FI to FI, opening and closing accounts chasing better interest. That was fun some 10-15 years ago but not anymore.

Right on!!!!!! Good customer service. And I DO AS WELL want DIY. But step backwards affected DIY. They are trying hard...but what can I say....it’s all screwed up here and there. Other FIs must love the Hubert exodus.
I called today to confirm the account numbers on the two voided cheques as to where they connected to...Accelerate or Hubert.
I needed the info so I can set up push/pull for a newly opened People’s Bank Account.
Then I decided to look at the account numbers on the voided cheque’s vs the actual old Accelerate cheques that I have and also against my push/pull set ups at Oaken and People’s Trust. I like consistency and all I can say is, what an F’ing mess. Which only pushes me more to totally move away from the new Hubert.
I do banking and bills every Thursday and as I sit here with a beating headache....I ask myself....how do I get money IN to Hubert. Is much harder than taking it out. Hmmmmm
My main source if money is BMO and VanCity. Neither have push/pull and I am simply not interested in etransfer, etransfer fees or knowing what the etransfer rules are!. Taking out push/pull at Hubert is dumb dumb dumb and inconvenient!
The future for me and Hubert is bleak.
I still think they should move all of our existing GIC rates to equal the current rates being offered.

If your external account has pull functionality, I would use that. Hubert's phone transfers get the job done but are quite slow to process (2-3 business days).

Yes, the "Good ol days" of the Hubert CSR saying you may now refresh your screen to see the job done ...

Ok....yesterday I did a pull from PT out of Hubert. I want zero cash at Hubert.
So I used the process and today I see $33.10 more in PT but still see in Hubert:
Plus + $33.10 and a Minus - $33.10
So am I in over draft or just a Micky Mouse Hay Wired banking system??
Micky Mouse is westerner talk.
Hay Wire is prairie talk.
MacGyver is ...???

A learning event ...
You need to document everything in your finances (assets, institutions, accounts, contacts, etc) so that if someone has to take over your finances there is a map of where everything is and directions on how to get there and how to move stuff around on that map ...
The kind of stuff you'd kinda like to know if you became designated driver for someone else ...

Absolutely. And make sure your Word and Excel passwords are known.

My "Hubert" linked account with Tangerine was a success!! Thanks for suggesting it. I will now be able to transfer my yearly GIC interest payments with Hubert into my Tangerine HISA!! So problem solved. FYI, The linked F.I. with Tangerine is "Accelerate Financial" so I used the new transit number of 44857 and bank number 879.
I just checked the FAQ on Hubert's website:
What is Hubert’s bank and transit number?
Our bank number is 879 and our transit number is 44857.
Don’t worry; Hubert’s old transit number—45967—still works!
