Just had a chat with Customer Service. (Short wait time but the first time I ever had to wait as they are getting a few calls about the transition.)

I did confirm that self-serve transfers and account creation (HISA's & GIC's) ends on Sep 22.

I asked if the intent of the feature/benefit downsize was to downsize Hubert. Apparently not (LOL) but I did note that this customer service rep was not his usual chipper self.

I need to figure out how Hubert fits into our plans going forward.

Quite disappointing.

It was there last night as I checked it.

The phone call required vs online external transfers is definitely a game changer for me but the removal of online joint GIC creation is my breaking point. Are there any other FIs that offer the ability to create joint GICs online? Tangerine requires a phone call and followup paperwork which is also a pain.
thanks

Yes, you can do join with Oaken. They have the BEST online ordering. For joint I do have to call PT as well. I think that the issue is they are dropping, the very well done Hubert system for the new version of the Access system which is incapable of setting up a joint account.

What I have found with the new Accelerate group that I assume will take over Hubert, the quality of the person you are talking to is third rate.

Kayla is still working there for now, she's great !

Yes but is that enough to compensate for a declining overall product offering and feature decline?

Re post #11 above (questioning whether non-Manitoba residents' accounts will still be insured), it appears on this page that the answer is still "yes."

NO absolutely NOT.

What Access is missing is that they have a bunch of remote customers that are low maintenance and we are happy with the current system, service and products "before" the merger. Now we are going to get any one that may or may not care OR give "quality" service because they are very knowledgeable. But my guess is you call, you ask a question, you get blown off because the person is NOT knowledgable and doesn't have the moxy to ask for some help to respond properly. That's happening all the time now.....and is that acceptable? Is that a game changer? Is that an easy way to break the loyalty bond?

And the calling in for joint. I can tell you at PT after you wait 20 minutes for the call to connect, then you AND the wife have to talk to them. If no answer after a certain time you can have a call back. The call back sometimes never happens and when it does it's a crap shoot if your available. The idea of me calling them is...I have the time and availability to do it now..and so does my wife. Also on the old Accelerate system which is same as the current at PT when you call to have the GIC NOT roll into another GIC at maturity....you can see it was changed. If Hubert is going with the new Access system, you CANNOT see if the change was done or not.

Before it was more definite.

Sloppy work. In the past it left no questions of doubt. This might be a game changer as some potential new customers will just breeze by and not bother with Hubert.

The one good thing about this announcement is that they telling us ahead of time what we're losing.

It's better than logging in on Sep 25 to open gic's and/or move $ and getting a bunch of 'no can do no more' messages...

Is there any one else out there with similar quarterly GIC's. I guess I can do an early redemption and move them elsewhere.

And in Sept both my wife and I will be sitting on some cashed out TFSA $ that will be on the move too!! <= that was in the plan before the announcement.

I can take an easy $70,000 out.

Bye bye, Manitoba CU's.

Re Pewter in post #28... the statement you've underlined in red still appears on today's Hubert website. It has not disappeared. It is on this page:
https://www.happysavings.ca/meet-hubert/deposit-guarantee/

As for the new need to call them for account creation, and for early redemption within 1 yr GICs, etc., I like others hope that Hubert's GREAT phone customer support continues, that most of the current folk will still be around and that wait times do not increase unduly. Only time will tell.

It did not say that last night. Unless we are looking at 2 different places. Or are they watching here and making changes on the fly. Are they using us as their proof readers??

See here ... as of last night.

All I can say is when Accelerate merged Debbie and Desiree soon disappeared from the phones and the quality definitely dropped.

I see rates are up on both Accelerate and Hubert. I guess they are hoping for new business that will be locked in for a year or more to replace the loyal customers that are leaving.

Re deposit insurance, on this page https://www.happysavings.ca/ , when I go to the bottom right, I see a link to "100% deposit guarantee," and by clicking that link, I still see the page that states "The best news is even if you’re not a resident of Manitoba, DGCM will still cover your deposits with Hubert Financial."

Lol, I love your posts Dean. Are you with Hubert and or Accelerate?
I imagine that Accelerate only customers are not happy either.

It’s a 5 year process. If there is anything real good left at Hubert, will I “use” them for those good things...time will tell. But no matter what they will lose a lot if not all from me. Family decision has been agreed upon.

As many know I have been contemplating to move to Dominion securities with a broker or online only. This cinches it. That way the bulk will be out of Manitoba and I will remain with a local Dominion Securities, PT and Oaken that have offices in Vancouver.

Good find! Sloppy work by Access, inconsistent information. To include out of province customers would be a good move to maintain.

CRA tax slips will be happily mailed going forward, so Canada Post will be able to misdirect them again sometimes with ours SIN's, names and addresses.

No longer be able to view and download CRA tax slips.

If you call that the "New Hubert Digital Experience" and going back to not secure snail mail from before digital era, you are delusional, Access CU.

Sadly, I will need to pass on your happy "New Hubert Digital Experience" and "improved service".

What will “not” change after the platform conversion?

The same amazing personalized service.
Hubert Financial will remain fee-free.
12-month Quarterly Redeemable GIC products will still be available.
Service hours will remain the same: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 6 pm.
Account numbers will not change.
Account nicknames named prior to integration will carry the nickname forward into the new system.

A commitment! I absolutely don’t believe the service part of it.
