What is lost: you cannot see who is primary or joint member on GIC. As per agent, that will be shown on a statement. What is at Device Management – lock button. What is that you are locking? Agent said it is 'on my PC' even though it is on Access web site.
I like to nickname our accounts so that we can tell what's what with just a quick scan of the FI accounts list ...
HISA Him, HISA Her, HISA Him & Her, HISA Her & Him ...
GIC Him 01, GIC Him & Her 01, GIC Her & Him 32 ...
In my spreadsheet, I use the same nicknames with FI prefixes like HUB, TNG, OAKB, OAKT, etc and then use sumif formulae to add em all up

Customizing the names of accounts to show maturation dates took me 3 tries 🙁First try- didn't click save at the bottom
Second try- names were too long and I couldn't see full name in the list of accounts page
Just for fun I just created a temporary 30 character nickname; it was previously the longest at 21.
It reads fine on my Android phone, probably because I keep the fonts small. It was truncated on my half desktop screen browser window but widening the window or zooming out the browsing window brought it into full view.
Experiment a little and find a naming structure that works for you.
Not defending Access, just trying to offer a DIY workaround until such time as better solution is offered.

According to the Access Credit Union Service Fee page, there is a $75 fee to transfer out registered accounts. Does anyone know if this means that Hubert clients will also now have to pay this fee?
That's likely for their bricks-and-mortar branches and accounts there. The Hubert online division is still fee free.

Setup is a breeze. But system is a little slow and I dont understand why I need to setup alert for each account separately. Alert should be applied to all accounts as oppose to I want to have alert on 1 account but not the other ? Does not makes sense from a security perspective.
Alerts work the same way at Tangerine and Oaken and likely others too ...

I noticed this after logging in this AM ...
"We are aware of latency issues with our online and mobile banking applications. Our vendor is actively investigating the issue for resolution. We will provide an update as soon as possible, thank you for your patience."
Could this be due to a significant increase in traffic since Sunday with all of us setting up and kicking tires ...

really ? Set those FIs up long time ago and forgot.
if its true, then they all make no sense. I cant see why one wants to have alerts on 1 account but not the other. Its a totally unnecessary option. When it comes to security alerts, more is better than less even if redundant.

Really. I actually checked before responding.

In a call to a Hubert agent recently he said that Hubert's Happy Savings web page will stay and that it will remain separate from Access CU but loose it's account functionality. It is now like a subsidiary of Access using their website for login purposes and account info. The 12 month term deposit with quarterly paid interest is acquired by speaking with a Hubert agent directly and is not available on the Access CU site. My accounts on the Access site now say "Hubert term deposit".

I called Hubert to push funds out to Tangerine on Monday. Prior to the system integration with Access CU, funds would be available in Tangerine in the same evening with self serve.
This time funds were debited on Tuesday and arrived Thursday today at Tangerine, so 2 days of interest are lost during transit compared to the old system when you won't miss any interest.
I know I can pull from Tangerine but there is a 5 day hold on the funds.

As the new Hubert website is actually the Accelerate/Access website.....1. Will the option to give GIC maturity instructions (after you have purchased) still be there for us?
2. What is the process to purchase a new GIC. Online or over phone with a human?
You definitely can't open a 12 month cashable GIC on Access website, it's not available except by phoning in to Hubert. I would phone Hubert to open any new GIC, since when I tried opening a new account ( = new GIC ) on the Access website, the rate was lower than shown on the Hubert website. And, confirm with the customer service rep that you are getting the rate posted on the Hubert website.
At least that's my experience, but it may differ for you since I already belonged to both Access and Hubert before the merger.

1. I would not count on giving instructions in advance as they might be 'misplaced'. You better call a day-two before GIC matures.
I have one 3-months period coming next Saturday. Since Hubert does not work on Sat/Sun anymore that will be new experience HOW to open a new one and reinvest funds NOT losing interest for a day/two.
2. See #1 🙂 Will let everybody know how it went.

I agree with you as it's a possibility... but I have done it at least 3 times in the past and never had a problem. Like 2 weeks prior. But that was *before* this integration.

So today I called Hubert and asked if an Accelerate TFSA that is now under Hubert ...does that fall under the no fee to transfer elsewhere?
The answer is yes.
I let my TFSA GIC's mature into the TFSA savings and then do a transfer.
BUT I now see that I have "2" TFSA variable accounts with cash in them. I assume one is from Hubert and one from Accelerate!!
Keep reading, you will see where I am going on this.
So now Oaken has a transfer process that you must do a transfer and an application for a TFSA account (even if you have one in either HT or HB).
So I asked Oaken how would I transfer TFSA funds in and use it for 3 TFSA GIC's at
Oaken.
Answer (last week) do one application and 3 transfers and use the reference code from the application on all 3 transfers.
Answer (today) do 3 applications and 3 transfers.
So knowing of the incompetences at Oaken I did not dare ask how in transfer in from two different TFSA variable accounts from the same FI (Hubert).
I guess I will waste my time and do one transfer and one application per GIC required per week.

I always as for interest paid annually and at maturity to the appropriate savings account right after I buy the GIC. Never had a problem with Accelerate or Hubert.
And the online update on Hubert...no problem either. And Oaken it is all done in one step and once again no issues.
it is very easy to see that a GIC will not roll over on the old CU systems. Your GIC information will say "At maturity, principal and interest are not available."
With the new Accelerate, Hubert and Access system that is all lost, but once again it is all there to see on your Oaken GIC's.
You always have to think.....you might need that money and you might be hospitalized or on an emergency trip that you overlook that time frame to give directions.

Hi, first time poster here... thanks for all the advice over the years.
I have had quite a few Hubert quarterly GICs because of the great rates, and simplicity and ease of use. Was scared when the merger happened (which i voted against) that things would change... and was pleasantly surprised when they left the rates and interface alone.
Then a month ago the shoe dropped. It was the catalyst I needed to start withdrawing funds from Hubert, as I had higher balances in there than I should have, not having CDIC coverage (Although I like credit unions, I trust their deposit guarantees a lot less).
This morning is the first day I had a GIC mature after everything flipped over to Access CUs web site. I had to call and there was quite a queue, but thankfully they had a callback option when it was my turn in line (all call centers, please do this!) so the 30min wait was a minor inconvenience. The rep seemed to be helpful, but said she now had to set up the transaction entirely manually, she lamented the loss of the Hubert interface as much as I did.
I am totally trusting that she is doing everything right, it doesn't feel reassuring to move large sums of money without confirmations or status or anything. I do know that if this is the new normal, my phone ins are all going to be for withdrawals, not deposits. I will still leave the TFSA GICs I have with them (the quarterly GIC product is still excellent and unmatched) but the rest will go into CDIC-backed 1yr GICs at other banks where I can initiate transactions.
By the way... thanks for the idea of nicknaming the accounts by maturity date... that really helps keep things straight! And please try and restore some functionality Access, and I will keep more $ with you.
Thanks
-L
PS. Why do mergers always make things crappier? Where my grandparents live in SK, after their credit union merged 4 years ago, they shuttered the branch last year. So now everyone in the town of approx 2000 has to drive 40km (each way) to do their banking at the nearest branch... I wish they could have at least left an ATM in a gas station or the Co-op store or something.

To those who prefer not having to call Hubert/Access during Banking hours to execute a manual transfer in or out of your Hubert account ...
On the 26th, I triggered a push from Tangerine to Hubert. A high risk $1 transfer. Very early on the 27th, Tangerine sent that $1. Later on that 27th, it appeared in my Hubert account.
Then back at Tangerine, I triggered a pull of that $1. Very early on the 28th, my Tangerine account was credited with that $1. Early on the 28th I looked at my Hubert account and saw that debit dated the 28th.
I will try a larger amount mid October when a maturing GIC will seek a more fruitful pasture ...
