For what it's worth, I just completed their latest CC survey ... it took about 2 min.

Did anyone else bother with it ❓

I did it a couple of weeks ago. No big deal. They never listen to my ideas anyways or they'd be offering much higher GIC rates. (LOL)

FI must be competitive. I asked my FI if they are going to offer terms greater than 5 years. Rep said she would pass onto management. It will be interesting how long it will take to offer that product. Probably nothing wrong with it if the rate is realistic.

Canadian FIs aren't used to offering GICs longer than 5 years since CDIC only started insuring them starting April 30,2020. EQ bank does, rates are:
5 Year 2.15%
6 Year 2.40%
7 Year 2.40%
10 Year 2.70%

I think something else FIs should start doing is offering fractal shares in equities and free stock trading. For eg . Trading 212 in UK offers free equity trading ( like Wealthsimple here or Robinhood in USA ) and fractal share purchasing ( where you can buy exact dollar amounts of shares, even if it amounts to fractions of shares )

From the questions they were asking in the survey, it sounded like they were considering upgrading their CC to a 'real' cash-back card ... like Tangerine, CapitalOne, etc..

Time will tell . . .

When they first began the credit card, I told them that I was not happy they'd invested in it because it's not much different from many others and I thought it was a waste of effort. They said they would consider my input and that was the end of it.
Now that they appear to be re-evaluating, I have to wonder if I was not the only person who felt this way. It's hard to imagine they would be doing this survey if the card was a roaring success already.

NOT me!! To me it was a Mickey Mouse version of AirMiles. A Hassle and NO value. With all the no fee cards out there, you can find one that best suits your needs. I like "CASH".

Some one on another thread suggested World Elite Rogers Mastercard
Earn 1.5% in unlimited cash back rewards on all other eligible purchases, Earn 3% in unlimited cash back rewards on all your eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars.
THE 1.5% CASH BACK IS ON ON ALL PURCHASES AND MINE WILL BE IN THE MAIL SOON. APPARENTLY IT WILL COVER ALL COSTCO PURCHASES AT 1.5%.

Better than the Costco Capital One, 0.5% on the first $3,000 you spend annually on all other purchases, and 1% after that, 2% on gas purchases, 3% on restaurant purchases. THE DEAL BREAKER HERE FOR ME IS SPEND $3,000 FIRST TO BE ABLE TO RECEIVE 1% ON EVERYTHING. ALSO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO THE MESS THEY MADE WHEN THEY DROPPED AMEX AND WENT TO CAPITAL ONE.

Better than Tangerine that you have to select 2 categories out of Grocery, Furniture, Restaurants, Hotel-Motel, Gas, Recurring Bill Payments, Drug Store, Home Improvement, Entertainment, Public Transportation and Parking. Earn 2% Money-Back Rewards on your everyday purchases in two 2% Money-Back Categories of your choice, and 0.50% Money-Back Rewards on all your other everyday purchases.
GEE WHAT 2 CATEGORIES SHOULD I TAKE AND WILL I REMEMBER OR WILL IT BE THIS CARD FOR THIS PURCHASE AND THAT CARD FOR ANOTHER? TOO MUCH TO REMEMBER AND A HASSLE. I DON'T SEE GETTING VALUE CASH BACK ON EVERY PURCHASE SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO KNOW WHAT CARD IN YOUR WALLET TO USE.

I will keep my Amex Simply Cash. Earn 1.25% cash back on all purchases. $100,000 Travel Accident Insurance, Buyer’s Assurance Protection Plan, Purchase Protection Plan. And Front Of The Line Advance Access.

I will keep my Home Trust Visa. CashBack Rewards
Earn 1% cash back on all eligible purchases to get more out of your everyday spending. No foreign exchange fees Pay no exchange fees on foreign currency transactions — even when you shop online.

I will cancel my BMO Cash Back due to recent unannounced change as they NO LONGER cover 1% cash back on ALL purchases. BMO that is basically .5% they give 0.5% cash back on all other purchases, 1% cash back on recurring bill payments, 3% cash back on grocery purchases. THAT IS IF THE VENDORS YOU ARE SHOPPING AT HAVE THEIR MCC, IN OTHER WORDS EVERYTHING AT COSTCO IS ONLY .5%.

I will cancel my BNS Momentum Master Card Cash Back. Gas Stations 1%, Grocery Stores 1%, Drug Stores 1%, Recurring Bill Payments 1%. For vendors classified by Mastercard Merchant Codes: 5411, 5541, 5542 & 5912. The latter does NOT include Costco.
CATEGORIES ARE CLEARLY DEFINED BUT WILL I REMEMBER THEM OR WILL IT BE THIS CARD FOR THIS PURCHASE AND THAT CARD FOR ANOTHER? TOO MUCH TO REMEMBER AND A HASSLE. I DON'T SEE GETTING VALUE CASH BACK ON EVERY PURCHASE SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO KNOW WHAT CARD IN YOUR WALLET TO USE.

I am not one for continually applying for credit cards but after reviewing how poor the value the BMO card has become and as well how poor the BNS Momentum Master Card Cash Back is, it was time to review and throw out the old and look for better. And loyalty.....hmmmm......even though we have been BMO customers for decades, Sayōnara to BMO Mastercard.

Good for you. BMO MC was my original card. No points back then. They added the silly AIRMILES points. I tried a few CC's. I found a no fee cashback card that I am happy with. It is a grandfathered card that is no longer offered.

@GICInvestor
Rogers MC has said that if you don't maintain 15K a year spending they have the right to downgrade your World Elite to their non World Elite MC which has lower cash back.

At least Tangerine's better card is a World card, not a World Elite card, so you don't run that risk.

Interesting. But I should be ok. I only use cash for second hand purchases which is not much, then PayPal for the odd online item which again is not much and the rest on credit. And cash is getting less acceptable and may remain that way thereafter. Who ever thought we would have a third party manage our cashless payments for which in turn the transaction cost is tacked on to your purchase price by the vendor. My other cards will have a bit of activity every month.

To maintain your account you must have an annual minimum spend of at least $15, 000 posted on your account during each annual review period. An annual review period commences on August 1st of a year and ends on July 31st of the following year. If you have not maintained the annual minimum spend during an annual review period, we reserve the right to switch the account to another Rogers Bank credit card product on or after November 1st in the next annual review period, without any impact to the rewards earned up to the date of the switch.

Accounts open for less than 18 months prior to the end of any annual review period will not need to meet the annual minimum spend requirement for that annual review period.

Compared to some here, my use of Cash-Back CC's is rather Basic ... LOL sf-laugh

No-Fee 'Tangerine' CC:

    - 2% Cash-Back on purchases of: (1.) Groceries, (2.) Auto Gas,
    . (3.) Recurring Bills.

No-Fee 'CapitalOne' CC:

    - 1% Cash-Back on purchases of: (4.) Everything Else.

.
With CC's, I keep things pretty simple, way out here in the bushes,
in my Neck-0'-The-Woods. sf-wink

Not a great combo in my estimation. No zero FTF, no roadside assistance, no extra percentage cashback at gas and groceries, no extra cashback for bill pay.

As a minimum you need to add Brim and Triangle LOL

My combo is as follows:

1. Lead card: Laurentian Bank VISA Dollar card for $65/yr
3% on all recurring charges (I make lots of donations via card so this covers fee and then some very fast; first $2166 spend). Since they are recurring, it is 'set it and forget it'....
2% on gas and groceries
1% on all things (though no longer use it for this part, see below)

2. PC MC World Elite MC
3% on most groceries (we shop as No Frills mostly) BUT there are MANY additional promos at Loblaw related stores AND Shopper Drug Mart that greatly increase this, probably closer to 5-6%
(sometimes use for Gas @ Mobil or Esso...but prices gone up since Mobile took over PC gas stations)

3. Rogers World Elite MC 1.5% on ALL other purchases, including 3% on US$ purchases (offsets 2.5% exchange fee, balance is bonus).

4. Triangle World Elite MC
1% for ALL charges that otherwise CANNOT go on credit card...utility bills (gas, hydro), property tax, car & home & life insurances...again, a mostly "set it and forget it" setup.
5¢/L discount for occasional gas purchases at CDN Tire gas bars (none close enough for regular use).
+ FREE Gold Plan roadside assistance worth about $113/yr + tx.
+ one free oil change worth about $50 + 2 discounted oil change worth about $27 each.

So for most purchases, it is one of 2 cards. Only for gas might I have to shuffle cards a little but not often.

smayer97, Thank You! You just saved me the price of an oil change. Our car is due for that service and I had not paid enough attention to the CTC Roadside Assistant Package to know that was available to me.

I notice that the included coupons for further oil changes expire on June 30. Tempted to use those first but realize we would not need another change before the 'free' coupon expires next February. A thread on another site indicates a new package with coupons will be issued when renewing Roadside Assistance.

Will keep PC World Elite Mastercard in mind if Rogers does not pan out in future. Also, considering Home Trust's similar card.

Like I said above ; " ... my use of Cash-Back CC's is rather Basic ... ". But it works for the wife & I.

We're not the Big Spenders we used to be, and we have little to no use for those Frills you mention.

The older I get, the more I use the 'KISS' method.

Whatever works, eh sf-smile

Glad to help... I do not know your details but if I were you I'd likely use one June discounted coupon first since you are most likely going to need another oil change by next Feb, at which point use the free coupon but you know what is best for your circumstances.

I wouldn't get an oil change at CT if they paid me. Oil change is not as simple as it looks- the thread on the oil pan is easily stripped, oil filter overtightened, oil overfilled etc.

It can even go wrong at a regular mechanic. I had an oil leak after an oil change twice, once because of oil pan thread being stripped and oil pan drain plug not tightening properly, and second time because non OEM oil filter was defective and leaking. Both times my driveway asphalt got quite eaten away, and I had to pay dealer for a new oil change, because I didn't want to go back to original place.

Ditto. I wouldn’t buy tires or let my car near a CT service bay.

So True

Even simple/basic maintenance jobs like oil changes, can go wrong. When I was young (and not so afluent sf-smile) I got in the habit of doing my own oil changes, and other basic auto maintenance ... and I still do, to this day.

And as for CT, they 'Never' get to work on my vehicles either ... there's Way too many CT auto repairshop Horror Stories out there ❗ sf-confused
