I have no idea why Access would not allow me to e-transfer out
There is often a minimum e-transfer - perhaps Hubert's is $10.00. I have tried transferring small amounts (from a major bank) to pay someone and the transfer was not accepted due to small size.
@mg Not at Hubert. I have e-transferred out less than a dollar.
@Kamwest Did you not try to “pull” it out from another FI? Do you have a “hold” on the balance?

Yeah I got it with a Saven pull
I have every account at all my financial institutions attached to Saven. I have never had such an easy time attaching accounts, even from the most obscure institutions.
I can also link to savings accounts and you cannot do that everywhere either because a lot of places require a void cheque to link accounts.
So pulling from Saven was super easy

5. I have a forever 9 notifications online, when I click on them they say I have none but 9 still show
I have seen this on Access and other portals. What you are probably seeing are old notifications that you never viewed/cleared or deleted. Only the most recent month or so is shown. I had the same problem on Hubert and RBC and just fiddled with the various filter dates until I was able to go back and have my messages shown. Then, I deleted them and cleared the list of notifications.

Are you talking about mail (envelope) notification (number in circle)?
Then you click on envelope and go change date range. You will all unread mails.
I had notification showing '1' all the time which appeared after I changed date range to go from 2024.01.01 and was able to delete it.

Any way to close the account other than phoning in?
I know if you simply wait they lock the account but closing it is probably better.
There's always a chance that things might turn-around @ Hubert, so I'd keep that SA open & active with $1 & ¢.

Having $1 on account will NOT keep your Hubert account active. You have to move that $1 around to keep it alive.
Thus having 2 accounts (personal and joint) will do the trick: move $1 from personal to joint. Tomorrow move it back. Do it every 3-4 months and both accounts will be considered as 'active'.

You have to keep logging in to keep the account active so that's not happening.
Getting the $5 share back is probably more hassle than the time is worth so that's not an issue.
I'm just glad I have one less account to keep checking on, it raises my blood pressure every time I log in to Access and see how they butchered Hubert.
SAVEN is my new goto and quite honestly I don't need the Hubert quarterly term because Saven beats the rate and they are always offering me 4-6 month terms at great rates. Plus the interface can do anything without human interaction so I am happy.
For all the guys complaining about the hold times, I don't use them for my banking, just my savings so there is always money in the account to take advantage of rates. I just transfer as needed into 4 or 6 month terms as they become available. The rest of the funds that I don't want to lock up (in case of an emergency) always earn top tier rates so what more could I want.

You can see with the rapid decreases that Hubert is trending down.
I remember seeing this with other virtual banks when they drop like this(as rapidly as they do) they are on their way out.
Another one is Motus
If I were a betting man both Hubert and Motus will go the way of the dodo bird.
I agree. I was done with them when they merged.
It was 1 of my favorite at the time. RIP Hubert

Looks like they are reducing Hubert rates downwards to match Access rates. And definitely don’t want to give us a decent HISA rate. At 1.6% I can do better at Oaken @3% on non registered and @3.4% on registered, peoples 30 day GIC has been holding at @3.0%.
My glass ball says…..bye to Hubert and off to Access. Bye to using Hubert’s HISA. Bye to any Hubert GIC when it matures.
If they stop letting us use our old linked accounts…..then would suggest to set up links elsewhere to pull funds out of Hubert.

I closed my Hubert accounts (CAD SA & USD SA) in June 2024 once they stopped supporting USD accounts and we would have needed to open one at Access instead.
Since then I haven't needed to open another USD SA elsewhere since I had deployed most of my USD funds into investments, but one day I will need a retail USD SA again, and thanks to many people here, I was suggested the one from EQ Bank. Currently they're giving 3% rate on USD cash, which was way more than Hubert offered, at least as long as I was a customer there; so when I'm ready, I think I will open an account there.

Hubert's savings account hasn't been attractive for a while now. Access CU likely doesn't need or want to attract much more savings deposits that can leave anytime.
One can do better on short-term savings than the current 1.6%. If one already banks at RBC Royal Bank, one can place money in one-year cashable GIC's and receive 2¼% to 2½%. The RBC one-year cashable GIC's can be cashed any time after the first 30 days with no penalties and no loss of accrued interest.

That has not been my experience - I have not logged in for months and it worked fine today. I have no assets with them except the $5.00 share. I use the Access phone App. This may be the key to the difference.

I think the account goes inactive after 6 months even if you have money sitting there.
I had a few hundred bucks there and could not log in, was getting a message to call in. The girl reset my account and told me to log in once a month to keep the account active.
I know for sure it locks after 6 but I have heard sooner from other people.
