I recently added an account to be linked with my Hubert account.
The next day I received a phone call from them to confirm that "it was me" who wanted the account added - to which I replied yes. She said ok, just an extra security measure." sf-smile Never had this happen before.

Some Canadian FI's are slowly implementing their own versions of 'Two-Factor Authentication' (2FA). Apparently, from Frugal Lady's recent experience ⬆, Hubert Financial is finally joining in.

They did that with me too last week. It must be standard operating procedure now. It makes me even "happier" to be with them, they are my favourite FI out of all the FIs I deal with.

However; "The next day" ... is a Very Slow response, by today's standards.

Hubert appears to be working in the right direction with 2FA, but they need to; 'Up Their Game'

I can wait a day or two; no problem.
What concerns me though is the extra staff time and costs required for the extra verification. Down the line, it inevitably means lower returns for us from our CUs.
Given a choice between waiting a couple of days for a link and lower returns, you know which one I'd pick!

If they eventually end up doing it right, no staff will be involved in Hubert's 2FA's.

Most FI's that have 2FA's, have it 'automated' so no staff are directly involved.

But as with most changes at Hubert, it probably won't happen anytime soon. sf-confused

. . .

Case in point ...

Today I changed my password in one of my TD accounts. During the process, TD's 2FA kicked in and sent me an automated phone call with the required completion code ... in less than two minutes

Hubert Financial ... please take note ⬆

Can't be as bad as Coast Capital Savings', whose system only sends messages to cell phones in a visual text message. They should not be discriminating against those who choose to use only landlines! 🙁

Cheers,
Doug

Right you are, Doug.
I would have to close any account that operated that way as I have never used "text", won't be using it and don't even know if my basic rarely used cell phone has it!

I couldn't live without a smart phone anymore. I'm using it all the time to scan QR codes to add smart light bulbs or security cams, much quicker online access to my bank accounts through fingerprint identification on the phone, whatsapp messaging to relatives abroad, group whatsapp messaging at work, google maps to find the best route around town since congestion around Toronto is so bad, instant email access to multiple email addresses, 2 factor authorization to many sites, flashlight, etc. etc.

Each to their own, Briguy.
I have my reasons, which are specific to my situation. And I'm not the only one.
