Did anyone successfully decipher the emailed notice of fee changes sent by Access Credit Union, in respect of which ones apply to Hubert's services?
The message I received contained a link to the Access web site where fees are discussed for brick and mortar credit union offerings, but not clearly differentiated for online FI services.
All that I can tell from this notice is that fees are going up, but which ones apply to online banking are not clear.
I tried looking on the Hubert page and discovered this change: there can now be a $275 per hour fee for "specialized estate assistance". But this fee is qualified by noting "...those circumstances aren’t a regular occurrence for Hubert members".
Unless one believes in reincarnation, such assistance with one's estate could never be more than a one time occurrence, I think!

The transfer fees for registered products could be an issue on the hubert side soon. Access wont leave the door open for free transfers.
Nothing has changed here so far here yet. Coming soon is my expectation. https://happysavings.ca/faqs/
If you transfer out of hubert now you probably wont get hit with fees in the long run.
Edit: I didn't get the e-mail when was it sent?

.
Best I can tell, all those changes only apply to Access CU 'Branch' members . . .
In 'Theory', online Hubert accounts shouldn't be affected ... at least for now. Trouble is, I can't find any mention of Hubert online accounts being exempted.

I too doubt that this particular fee schedule applies to Hubert. Hubert doesn't even offer cheques, so it just doesn't fit.
Access' communications department is truly dreadful. They send things that don't seem to apply while ignoring things you want to know about.
I wouldn't be too surprised though if they introduce transfer fees for Hubert members. Nothing has improved since the merger and almost everything has deteriorated.
Spouse called the other day to make a transfer out from HISA, leaving the account empty for the time being. CSR was eager to offer to close the account, too eager. The account does get used, as recently as last month, but it feels like they are trying to push you out the door. We do have significant other funds there, in quarterlies.
When problems started to emerge after the merger in Sept, I said I'd give them to year end to sort it out. Seemed reasonable to me at the time, but it hasn't gotten any better overall. They are definitely trying my patience, and there is essentially no communication of any value. I think the responsibility for this fiasco has to rest on the CEO.

I received the e-mail. The account packages mentioned in the e-mail are the Access-branded accounts and not the Hubert-branded ones.
I suspect the e-mail was sent to all Access CU members without taking into consideration that some members are online-only members who don't have any of the Access-branded products.

For those worried about your Hubert chequing account getting more expensive, or fewer services available at Hubert branches, no worries, they just sent that email to Hubert customers by mistake:
Dear member,
An email was incorrectly sent to you on January 4, 2024, containing product changes related to Access Credit Union - ("Product and Service fee changes effective February 1, 2024").
Please note that these changes do not impact you, and you received this email in error.
We sincerely apologize for this error and any confusion it caused.

What a gong show Hubert has become since they were swallowed up by Access Credit Union.
The only communications they seem to get right the first time are notices of reduction in their interest rates on GICs. They are efficient in making cuts!
So glad that I placed my Fall 2023 investments elsewhere.

I got a second email the next day saying the first one was sent to me in error and there is no change.
I have moved all my money out of Hubert because of the small transfer amounts online and the fact every time I tried to use the website (just a couple of times a month..) something did not work. In a month or so I'll close it down and get my $5 back as well....

I agree that, since the merger, things are not as simple as they once were. But, I do have to say that any CSR I have dealt with has been polite, friendly and efficient. Maybe, before too long, the other perks we were accustomed to will return to Hubert. I am not abandoning their ship yet. They still have products I can use.

I'm with Gicjunkie ⬆ on this one ... and remain in 'Wait & See' mode.
However, for me this is the Make-Or-Break-Year for Hubert/Access. No more of my $$$ goes there until they clean up their act. And if they fail at that (which I'm afraid they might), I'll be Gone when my last two Hubert GICs mature in early '25.

Same here. No new money going their way until they have same DIY capabilities like before. Otherwise once existing GIC matures, they will lose me.
