This is interesting. The BOC holds and HISA rate drops. Have we found the new "neutral" rate?

Wasn't it 2.35 before the hike to 2.5? This is lower than summer? Or am i mistaken?

Yes, it was 2.35 not too long ago. Not sure of the dates.

Don't forget that rate history is also available on this site's Comparison chart.

in the last few weeeks all momentum for rate hikes seems to have evaporated.
too far too fast in terms of hiking or is it simply a function of weak WCS?

Maybe too many people were joining and they needed a way to stop new funds?

Most likely this rate drop occurred on December 5, 2018 because from July 1, 2018 Oak Bank CU is part of Sunova CU and just a few days before December 5, 2018 they finished that process of joining together.

All their registered savings accounts are 2.5%.
It may be a seasonal thing for those accounts.
Perhaps, in March or so, they will all even out to 2.4-ish, like the other MB CUs.

I noticed that - it seems they initially dropped the rate to 2.3% (which showed on my account when I posted) and shortly thereafter, adjusted it to 2.5%. I'll double check the interest at the end of the month but I'm assuming it will be a consistent 2.5%.
