Is everyone seeing this offer when they sign into their Tang account? It says:
"Searching for a Great Rate on a US$ GIC? Right now, earn 2.00% interest on a 1 year term."
When I click on the current interest rate drop down box, it shows that the 2% is for 1 year, and also for the 5 year GIC rate! The 18 month to 4 year GIC rates are much lower. So it seems we're getting the 5 year rate on a 1 year GIC as the promotion.
Is this a good rate? Anyone currently seeing anything better out there for USD?

If you already have the money at Tang in USD account, this might work, but if you have to move it from somewhere, be sure it can go through directly in USD. If you have to convert it from CDN you will lose too much in exchange. You also need to ensure that you can get it out again without changing to CDN, for the same reason.

Thanks for that......RBC predicts the US Feds will raise 4 times in the next year. I am now getting 1.35% HISA at TD and 1.88% in their money market fund (All USD here)....so if you feel the Feds will not raise 4 times, it might just make sense, especially in the case of the HISA.
Tangerine....Canada's best bank. LBC.............Canada's 2nd best bank.
Hubert.....worst bank in Canada.
