Parama Credit Union is offering 1-Year GICs at 2.5% ... there are coupon codes. HIGHINTERESTSAVINGS gets you an extra 5 bps, or 2.55%. Valid on 1-Year GICs only.

Get more details!

Kind Regards,
Parama Credit Union

Does Parama require an in-person visit in order to become a member and purchase a GIC, or can the process be done online / telephone / email for someone living too far away for a personal visit?

Stephen

ParamaPolly, how exactly would this extra 5 bps works ? I found no mention of HIGHINTERESTSAVINGS following the link ... Targeted offer?

Sounds like PARAMA Credit Union has created a special coupon code for HighInterestSavings.ca members and guests, independent of HighInterestSavings.ca itself, hwyc. In the new membership application, I would reasonably speculate you mention in the "referral code" space or "coupon code" space that you enter "HIGHINTERESTSAVINGS" as Polly specified and they will code your GIC to 2.55% instead of 2.50%. sf-cool

Edit: Nevermind. Looks like PARAMA Credit Union doesn't have an all digital membership opening process, so you will need to visit a PARAMA branch, which also answers Stephen's (Nehpets') question. If you are an existing customer, you can probably open the GIC online, but might need to call PARAMA's contact centre and have them adjust the GIC rate by mentioning promo code. If a new customer, you'd just mention promo code to the banking advisor.

Hope that helps,
Doug

You can do better at Oaken or Hubert, readily available online (except Hubert in QC). And there are any number of CUs that offer 2.55

If we are going to allow unpaid advertisements through the forum, then let them at least be as good as or exceed best offers elsewhere.

Hi Stephen, yes a visit is necessary. Details are here: https://parama.ca/account-form.
