Our 3- and 5-Year Registered Escalator GIC rates have changed. Here are the details!

If you can do the math then their 5 year escalator rate is actually 2.7586% and not 2.80%.

Motusbank 5 year non escalator GIC rate increases from 2.75% to 2.80%. All other previous rates have increased as well.

When I looked at their website, registered 5 yr GICs are 2.80% but non-registered 5-yr is 2.75% ... I really don't understand why they bother with only 0.05% difference.

I don't know their reasoning but motus has been doing this pretty much since the beginning Their registered rates are typically .05 higher. They must think this leads to more long term business. I would disagree, but they didn't ask my opinion!

On the plus side, they don't discriminate in regards to RIF accounts as some FIs do - either by not offering them or by giving lower rates.
