I was told by a Meridian employee that the one year GIC at 3.25 offer will be ending sometime next week.

I don't know if this will work now that they know the rate is changing, but in the past they have held a rate for me for a few weeks if I indicated that an investment was coming. They note it on your file. This happens when they have no knowledge of the timing of a rate change. If you need the rate held, give it a try.

This time, I was told they wouldn't hold it even a couple of days, but maybe other employees would say something different. Best to ask a manager, if this is an issue for you.

I think they should tell members, when they know a deal is coming to an end. Oaken does.

Kidd, you must think Meridian is ending this offer because you anticipate a BoC increase and think M is going to make a better one after Dec 5 ? sf-laugh

I wish!
but I don't think so.
Next year...

My experience is sometimes they do know before hand, but there are also times when new promotion hits and branch is only aware the day before. At least thats what the branch told me...

The one year 3.25% offer has disappeared from Meridian's line-up as of today. It's back down to 2.0 (ouch!).
The rate specials for 3 and 5 years are still there.
The person I spoke to there last week did not think there would be any more Specials this month and not likely next month either.

BoC slowing down their rate hike, new short term rates promotion will be harder to come by, at least for now.
