Seems like people are now rushing to get higher rate after interest cut. I think you can still try their special offer GIC, although they have change the maturity from 18 month to 2 years while keeping the same rate. They also seems to let you open an account online, although I am a bit confuse as they seems to force people to open a chequing account that only have service fee waived when you have direct deposit into it. The deal also seems to apply to register account, although the agent I talk to doesn't seems to understand are there fees for withdraw (there are fees on transferring amount to another institution).

With Luminus Financial, there also seems to be a $5.99/year membership due. It is listed among their Other Services fees.
Their FiveStar Chequing Account requires payroll deposit to waive fees. Alternately, their Personal 1 Chequing Account will waive withdrawal and transfer out fees (but not bill payment) with a $1,000 minimum monthly balance.
