Interestingly, they didn't bump down the cashable quarterly along with the 1-year, so the gap between the two is now only 15bps (it was as high as 55bps as the 1-year climbed to 5.75%).

Those high rates were designed to try to stem the flow of the Hubert membership Bleeding Away, after the Disastrous amalgamation with
Access CU.

But that wall of high rates probably isn't sustainable for them, so now
it's starting to Crack.

So be it.

I suspect they didn't move the quarterly rates as they are right about where it should be. That product didn't bump up as the regular 1 year term did. I also suspect this move was most likely intentional to help prevent a deluge of calls with people redeeming/rebuying when the quarterly rates are adjusted upwards. Granted, some may have to take advantage of that larger spread but I suspect those that like the quarterly product would keep it. I know I did. I really like the quarterly term product. YMMVsf-cool

Me too!
I see a lot of negativity toward Hubert on this forum. Simple: If you do not like it, MOVE to somewhere else.
I do not like Tesla crap cars but I did not join Tesla forum to start bashing them.
Quarterly 1-year GIC is unique in Canada and is very practical - you can earn great interest AND you can get all your money sooner than waiting for 1 year if you need it.
As for Hubert 'fiasco' it does not bother me a lot; CSA are still one of the best in industry and any potential error is quickly and efficiently resolved.
Yes, some 'good old Hubert' features are missing but agents are always there to help. Correct, you cannot do some things from your favourite sofa on Sunday and yes, you have to invest some of your time (and patience) to accomplish them.

Thanks for the Sermon , CAD ... Much Appreciated ! sf-laugh

Like many others here, I'm on my way Out of Hubert, thanks to the Access CU 'Fiasco'. I've just got two more Hubert GICs to mature later this year, and then I'm Gone.

Good on you, if you want to stay ... it's Your choice ... Fill Yer Boots !

O&O,

I'm not bothered at all. Trivial inconveniences are not something I feel the need to get my blood pressure up over. Some apparently feel differently and will go out of their way to manufacture a grievance (common share issue for example). C'est la vie.

I agree with this, and also with CAD. Too much Hubert bashing. Hubert's doing just fine for me. No issues with having to make a call once in a while, wait times are always reasonable and the CSRs always friendly and efficient. The one year quarterly product is exceptional. Pure speculation on my part, but I've wondered if the loss of online access to various functions, etc., during the transition might have something to do with fixing possible vulnerabilities in these days of escalating cyber crime...if so, a very proactive and much appreciated move.

Why do you feel it's necessary to post this? I mean, thanks for your approval, but I wasn't really hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for it.

I was never a fan of the merger but never suffered any inconveniences. I don't need to talk to them daily. I rarely move money around and I don't track every penny. I had a very profitable 2023 with Hubert with 0 stress.

Double edged sword there. If you don't like what people are saying MOVE to a different form or thread.

...and your analogy makes no sense. In case you aren't aware this isn't a Hubert form.

Great for you that you weren't affected in a way that bothers you, but why people like you think that enables you to trivialize anyone saying otherwise.... It's most likely you have concerns which don't bother other people. That doesn't make them insignificant to you does it?

As Dean so well says, fill your boots, say what you want. I'm not one of you people telling other people to MOVE on because I don't like what they're saying. I'm simply pointing out your hypocrisy and quick to judge attitude which adds nothing to discussions and deters people from sharing their points of view which are based on their experiences.

So I won't MOVE on. I'm not going to be bullied by some anonymous online individuals who discount others. Please. Fact is Hubert deserves every ounce of legitimate criticism they get and if you don't feel they do because you haven't had any problems with them, then that's your opinion.

Unlike you, I can read other peoples opinions, respect them, learn from them and improve myself with them. I don't have to tell people to MOVE on because I'm not threatened by the fact that not everyone is like me.

You, my friend, were the first in line to tell people to move on. How quickly one forgets one's own words.

Read post 5 and learn the facts vs creating your own convenient truths.

I even copied their MOVE wording in CAPS LOCK TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO SEE I WAS QUOTING THAT PERSON. Can you figure that out now or will you continue to insult and attempt to push people around based on your own reality?

Well, I'll grant you that. Indeed, you weren't the first. I stand corrected. But just the same, you should follow your own advice. However, I suspect you'll quickly reply, and in essence, will do anything but heed your own words.

You still can't figure out they're not my own words. They're the words of people like you. I've never told someone to go away because I don't agree with them. That's your forte. Maybe you're just not capable of figuring it out, so it seems you're incapable of communication vs spouting your own position over and over again no matter how unfounded it is.

All you're doing is exposing your own inability to comprehend and demonstrating there is no reason to attempt to communicate with you.
