Brian, it is better that we all see more options and choices for us as. Competition does work sometimes for the smaller depositor, savings accounts, GIC's, TFSA's, RRSP's, RESP's, RRIF's etc. as we have seen.

If you look around 3.00% to 3.10% for non-registered GIC's and for RRSP's, RRIF's, TFSA's, 3.00%, 3.05%, 3.09%, 3.10% and 3.30% 5 year TFSA rates, 3.00% 7 year RESP rates have come out of this.

We just have to shop around, compare and be up to date as we now can using forums, internet etc. today.sf-smile

Just to let people know that Community Trust Company is an internet Bank only and has no actual branches but I found that you can go through a GIC, deposit broker if you want to use that option.

You can see their exact GIC rates and minimum $5,000 GIC deposit required at http://www.fiscalagents.com. Their highest GIC rate is 3.00% mentioned by Koogie a few days ago.

I don't know if Community Trust is registered with other GIC, deposit brokers but I guess it would be to their advantage to do that.

It gives everyone more choices especially those that may want to or do not feel comfortable doing it themselves online.

Take care and it always pays to shop around and compare rates, terms etc.sf-smile

It looks like I found another GIC, deposit broker that has 5 year 3.00% GIC, RRSP, RRIF rates, http://www.monarchwealth.ca/in.....ateTracker.

However, they don't have 2.35%, 2.43%, 2.48%, 2.50%, 3.00% 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year TFSA rates posted in their GIC Rate tracker.

I checked Community Trust Company's website and did not see any TFSA rates listed but they seem to offer them as registered plans.

Amen. I for one appreciate the constant quoting of updated GIC rates and new institutions on this forum. We have enough struggles in life without having to settle for usurious rates from the Big 5 !
It's nice to see likeminded people banding together to get the best rates and terms possible !

Cheers.

Koogie, thanks for the appreciation and hopefully in the new year, 2015 savings account rates, GIC, RRSP, RRIF, TFSA, RESP, LIRA, LRIF, LIF, GIA, annuity rates, bond rates, yields, dividend rates, yields are all higher and stay higher until the end of 2015.

I just heard that U.S. GDP grew by 5% in the third quarter which is the highest since 2003 or more than 10 years ago.

Koogie, usually when U.S. GDP starts to grow and growing faster above 3.5%+ over many quarters, years, interest rates go up, bond yields, GIC rates etc.

We maybe turning the tide here and maybe seeing 3.5% to 4.00% GIC's coming sooner than we think.sf-smile
