Thanks, Stephen. Wow, I'm amazed how many Ukrainian staffed and dominated credit unions there are in each of Ontario and Manitoba. I wonder if this one and Parama Credit Union might amalgamate? They're incredibly small in assets (probably less than $700 million combined, which would make the two of them less than all of Entegra Credit Union in Manitoba). Entegra, meanwhile, is another Ukrainian focused CU that, arguably, should merge with Carpathia Credit Union and Implicity & Ideal merge together, with Implicity the continuing brand name.
Cheers,
Doug

Hmmm....I don't know how well Ukrainians and Lithuanians might get along, Doug..
Perhaps more likely candidates might be The Ukrainian CU and Buduchnist CU, both of which are Ukrainian.
Parama and Talka, on the other hand are Lithuanian CU's.

Oh, thanks Stephen, but I thought for sure I read that Parama was, predominantly, Ukrainian. They even list their entire branch staff in their annual reports, like Carpathia does, so it sure seemed like they might be Ukrainian.

The Ukrainian community (not unlike the rest of Canada) has different segments which may have substantially different views politically and otherwise. I wouldn't assume they will necessarily get along well enough to want to join each other.
There may be better sources, but, if interested, you can get some clues about these differences from the book, Mike Starr of Oshawa: a political biography, by Myron Momryk (2018), which I happen to have read.
That said, I know nothing of the specific roots or views of these particular CUs.
The GIC is a decent rate though. Thanks for pointing it out, Stephen.
