Hello,
I've just joined the forum and wanted to vent my frustration with dealing with TD. According to TD you can use your debit card in the US since they have added Visa for US Debit use. This made sense to me since they were also saying that they now also have the most branches in the US of any Canadian Bank and Visa is well know in the retail sector. So, this morning I dropped by the TD Bank and asked to have my US account that holds America currency connected to my debit card for use in the States. The answer was "NO" they do not offer that service. I would have to use my Debit through my Canadian account and then have to pay the Fees. The other suggestion was to apply for a TD Visa Card which I was not interested or bring cash. This Bank his fee driven and lost focus on Customer Service. Pass the word around.

Just open a TD cross bordering chequing account and you will have a US ATM card. The money transfer from your TD borderless US account and TD Bank chequing account in US is free.

Consider.
Bank Of Nova Scotia MasterCard...no currency conversion fee
BMO US$ MasterCard and a BMO US$ account and you can pay the US$ MasterCard from your US$ account.
Just as an extra precaution to consider....don't have bank accounts (or have a lot of money in or have direct deposits to) with the same bank you have credit cards with.

I use a BMO US$ credit card.I also have a BMO US$ account. They work great together. If you charge a minimum 1000.00$ per year with the credit card you are reimbursed the yearly credit card fee of 35.00$.I go over to the states quite often(30 minutes to the border) and spend 5 weeks there in the winter,so 1000.00$ in charges is no problem.
