Does Shaw owe me for the one month of service that I paid for but could not access?
Four years ago, or so I switched from Shaw to Telus for TV, Internet and Phone. My reasons were missed installation date, too long to answer phone, long outages on all services, poor quality cable and if you had a long power outage you would lose phone all together.
But I now see the following:
The new ruling means that as of January 23, 2015, customers will be able to cancel their cable, phone, or Internet service at any time without having to provide advance notice or pay an extra month’s subscription.

I'm confused. You're looking at a ruling that came into effect this year to apply to a transaction you concluded 4 years ago?
Dont be confused. So when Shaw started loosing their customers to Telus they put this punitive measure in place. This was so ridiculous on their behalf and if you were hosed for $125 for changing....would you ever go back??? Not likely. So for the short period of time they did it....and can't to any more....maybe a refund should be due???

ertyu...I'm confused too. Kanaka...I can one up you. Cancelled my Bell phone at cottage last fall as our Rogers cell phones work just fine now. Won't share the whole long story about how they tried to retain me but once I refused their offer, they imposed their 30 day cancel policy which they never had when I had opted for the "seasonal disconnect" option which was always effective next day. So I paid for 30 days to say so long to Bell. 3 months later I read in paper that law has changed. Did I feel that they put the screws to me, yes. Will I ever use Bell again, not likely. Did I switch to paper billing and make them send me 5 monthly bills to try & collect that last $27 monthly fee, yes. Do I feel I can ask for a refund today, no.
