Having worked with computers and network security since the 90's, today I am a confirmed luddite and will never rely on the warm and fuzzy marketing coup we call the "cloud" (aka - someone else's server(s) located somewhere on the planet).
Remember the security aphorism:
There are two types of people/businesses. Those who know they've been hacked and those who don't.

Naaaa...SDB i.e. Safe Deposit Box (A box that is in the safe) But then, that's just me!!
I don't have a safe but I do a small fire safe box that I keep in the cold room (under the front porch - concrete walls, floor and ceiling with steel door access from the basement pantry/fridge/freezer room). And then, just in case, the contents of the box are duplicated quarterly in a free safety deposit box.

I see we think alike again 🙂
Slightly off topic but germane to this topic of digital security, I was shocked to find a newly offered, 'ultra fast modem' being touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread, has a "secret" wi-fi network that can't be turned off! These were not my words but were the words of a senior tech support person who was trouble shooting it with me trying to turn the Modem into Bridge mode with all wi-fi off.
Amazingly, unlike every modem I have used in the last 20+ years, this units wi-fi cannot be completely disabled even when all software wi-fi options are disabled and Bridge Mode enabled. Needless to say I put up a fuss and it went back to the provider ... pronto.
It's the wild wild digital west out there (and now increasingly in our homes) and most people are flying blind.

The only problem with my safety deposit box is that my branch is an amalgamation/consolidtion/evolution of 6 previous area branches that has 6 banks of nearly identical SDF's, as in 6 boxes with my number. My key only fits one of them and the staff never want to accept my help in identifying mine. So they always end up trying all 6 banks before finding mine and then I say "I told you that" and they kinda smile. Cheap entertainment I suppose ... SDF Treasure Hunt ...

Dean: Thanks. I don't think I've ever seen the acronym "SDB" anywhere on this site in the years I've been here! I only remember it as "Silent But Deadly..."
ExtraSauce: This is quite common now, and many internet-linked spybots (er, home convenience devices?) have a "mesh" mode that routes through any nearby networks it can find.
Remove the antennas from your devices. That will severely restrict their range. Or, for extra paranoia, put them in an old non-functioning microwave oven enclosure. You'll have to make holes for the cables, of course. Any digital phone can scan for the presence of a wi-fi point to see how far it's functioning.
