I opened an account with Peoples Bank in May and made two deposits and received interest at the end of the month (savings account).
My e-statement for May shows the balance as of May 31 but dos not show any transactions whatsoever - no deposits, no interest, no opening balance.
Is this normal for Peoples Bank? If so, has anyone asked why it doesn't show transactions?
I've seen some badly designed statements in the past but never one that is missing the bare minimum of facts.

I looked at one of my statements with respect to my savings account. It shows account balance summaries at the top followed by all the accounts in detail. The account section includes opening balance as well as transactions such as credited interest. If there wasn't a transaction in the month it only shows the opening balance. Is it possible your statement didn't fully download?

I just went on their site to see if my May statement was messed up and it doesn't appear that the May statement is ready. Is it possible the statement you are looking at is April's?
Yeah, though Loonie opened the account in May, it's possible their system allows you to generate an e-Statement for a period prior to account opening.
Alternatively, it's possible Loonie's e-Statement isn't ready yet and what he (or she) is looking at is the PDF transaction history for the specified monthly period. The MemberDirect online banking system allows you to generate PDF electronic statements by month or by custom date ranges. I had to do this for several months in late 2017-early 2018 until Coast Capital Savings launched their e-Statements. Typically, e-Statements aren't released until the 3rd to 6th calendar or business day of the month following.
Cheers,
Doug

Loonie. It seems every FI has their unique ways that we have to get used to. I rarely have cash in their HISA but soon may!!
Here is an edited copy of my downloaded E Statement. The info on statement is a summary first then detailed below.

There must be something wrong with my statement, then. I will have to call them. Makes no sense to me that Bill would report that he never gets detailed statements but jgclghrn and GICInvestor do.
It's definitely a statement, not a transaction list. I also have the transaction list, which does show all three transaction, but I shouldn't have to keep that as a secondary record. If I had the technical skill, I would post what I received as a statement.
It's definitely a May statement. As Doug said, I didn't have an account there in April, and it does say May.
May e-statements for both PT and PB are available online fo May for my accounts. There is nothing wrong with the PT statement. Maybe they are not finished posting them all.
Thanks for the feedback.

UPDATE:
This is a joint account, and I am listed as the secondary person. Upon further investigation, we see that spouse gets the full detailed statement but I do not.
So, perhaps Bill is secondary, and GICInvestor and jgclghrn are primary?
At PT, I am primary, and the statement there was fine. Spouse has not checked.
Phoned PB. They are looking into it and couldn't explain why the two statements are different. They could not promise they would have this resolved by June statement but will get back to us. Has to be resolved by a "third party".
They also said they have been having trouble "generating" May statements, which I don't think should affect their completeness, but I suppose it might.
I also had trouble logging in today. It took five attempts.

Thanks for the corroboration.
I suggest anyone who is concerned about this issue complain. It may improve the likelihood of a speedier resolution for all of us.It reminds me of the olden days when, in fancy restaurants, women accompanied by men were given menus with no prices listed.
Yes and those days when a lady could not go into a Beer Parlour (now called a Pub) with out a male escort.
Loonie I don't see the point to ask to have this fixed. Reason...from my perspective only.....both my wife and I have TFSA with them....so no matter what I always download both every month.
Yes....I do the banking and know all the passwords and account ID's.

It's up to you but I think both partners ought to be able to access a complete statement whenever they want to.
Yes, I remember the "men only" rooms too, which were often quite unattractive - to put it mildly. Guys would be trying to get a woman to invite them into the "Ladies and Escorts" side. Groups of women would go to "tea rooms". All of this in my lifetime!

1960s Ontario
Further, those under the legal drinking age were not even permitted to enter a liquor store, and purchasers were not even allowed to see the bottle before requesting it. You ordered our purchase by code number and it was delivered to you in a plain brown paper bag. These "stores" were heavily clouded with cigarette smoke.
My parents didn't drink much, but when they did, one of them would have to wait outside the store to watch me while the other made a purchase. That was 1950s.

When I started at Mac in 1968 they did not have a pub on campus. A friend was one of the people that organized the first pub on campus. A second pub was established. Not sure what the drinking age was in Ontario then. I think it was 21 before lowering to 19 and then 18. Some went across the border since the legal drinking age was lower.

I remember that in B.C. too. As a youngster I would wait outside (or wait in the car) the Government Liquor Control Board store. Sometimes a line up out into the street and then you would see 4 - 5 clerks at a low counter, you would ask for a case of beer, pay for it, then they would go to the back (you could not see what was there) and bring out your case of beer and put in on the counter for you to take. The majority of purchasers were men.
