So I don't have any account with a SWIFT code that accepts international wire transfers. Thanks EQBank, TangerineBank, and Simplii

Any recommendations? I need to get compensation from AirMalta and have 2 weeks to fill out their form.

I also have accounts with Meridian and online research has conflicting information. Anyone has received an international wire transfer via Meridian?

Assuming you have an account with Simplii.

Simplii Financial shares Institution Number 010 with its parent CIBC. Its SWIFT/BIC code is CIBCCATT, and all Simplii clients share a branch-transit number of 30800. As a division of CIBC, Simplii Financial is insured under the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC).

They used to charge $10 for incoming wire transfer. Not sure if it remains the same.

This is great. I had no idea.

I contacted Meridian and they provided me with the info but based on https://www.meridiancu.ca/personal/rates-and-fees/personal-accounts-fees-and-service-charges they charge $17.50 so maybe better for me to go with Simplii.

Some Googling before filling out the form asking for IBAN/Swift Code/ Account #. Seems Account # is a bit tricky and should include the branch etc info too.

I have rarely done these, but, when I did, I just asked the receiving FI to write down all the necessary numbers, which they did, and I copied them to the form. No problems. Did one at Meridian and one at a big bank that I recall.

Thank you, Loonie. So you have done with Meridian and it worked. Although, $17.5 is too much. I have never done it. Will be my first.

I think the Meridian one was domestic though, not overseas. No longer sure. I was just wanting to suggest getting them to write it all out for you so no mistakes.

They did send me a signed PDF with the information. Thanks.
But I might get a colleague with an EU bank account to just get the funds and then e-Transfer me the money in CAD. Feel bad about spending $17.5 in fees for a small $250 CAD.

When asking for the SWIFT info, mention which country the funds will be coming from and the currency. I've noticed that the instructions can be different for US$ or from US.

For example, the incoming wire instructions for CIBC only route through Wells Fargo Bank N.A. in New York city (SWIFT PNBPUS3NNYC) for US$ transfers from the US. Otherwise, it is only to Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (SWIFT CIBCCATT).

Actually Meridian agent asked me this specifically, where, how much, currency and provided the details. I think as I liked their service I better pay the $17.5 fee than risking it with Simplii $10.

It's all hindsight. I would have gone the Wise multi-currency account route and had the payment sent in EUR via IBAN, then converted it to CAD.
