Hi,

I want to open a "petty cash" account which will never have a balance higher than $100 or maybe $200. Money will be deposited in Canada & withdrawn in Europe (Serbia to be specific) about once per month. (Long story.)

So I need:

  • Low international ABM withdrawal fees
  • No or low monthly fees
  • No minimum balance required

Does anyone know how the various no-fee online options (PC, Citizen's Bank, ING, HSBC Direct, etc) measure up for my needs? Or does anyone know of other banks that might be better for me?

You might want to look at Paypal. I recently had to transfer money to an account I had in the Czech Republic. I have a Canadian Paypal account connected to a Canadian bank account, (transferring between these is free), I set up a Czech Paypal account an connected it to my Czech bank account. I sent the money from my Canadian paypal account to my Czech on, and then into my Czech bank account. It cost me about a $1.50. (I think the exchange rate was decent too.)
