What do you think, should we:
Invest in GIC, Corporate Bonds or wait in 1.1% account?
Not sure about the stock market, it seems very volitile and risky at the moment. I do like preferred shares but right now...?
Could be some great buying opportunity IF the market drops again like in 2008/09.
Opinions wanted. 🙂
Thanks.
Have a great day

for what it's worth, I think the global markets aren't going to do much of anything over the next 5-10 years or so, although I don't think we'll see another plunge down to the depths of march, 2009. in my opinion the best stock plays during the upcoming years will be large-cap dividend payers where the dividend is likely very safe (look for companies that are hoarding cash... they are unlikely to reduce dividends). if you're a more experienced investor, you could even look at selling covered call options as a way to profit somewhat from a flat market. if you want others to do the work for you, and you don't mind paying them a fee for that, invest in a market-capturing etf or mutual fund. that way, you get the dividends in the form of distributions. i personally don't have any gics in my portfolio, but i do have some cash in a mixed bond fund. i keep an emergency cash fund will ally which is currently paying 2% (also gives be a stockpile of cash I can use to take advantage of unusual buying opportunities). my 2 cents.
