It's true, RetireEd, Sanger pushed the idea and much funding came from (I believe the spelling is McCormick) a rich heiress. But that gets you nowhere. It was men (Djerassi, Pincus, Rock, Colton, etc) who actually invented it, and profit-motivated, greedy big pharma was on it like a dog on a bone and so did the actual work of producing and distributing it. All around, an unprecedented achievement, it turns out.
