RBC announced earlier this month free Interac e-Transfer payments for all their personal chequing accounts: RBC (May 3, 2016): RBC makes sending money simple, instant and now free

Just on their personal chequing accounts though. There's still a charge for their savings accounts and business accounts.

Wow... how can they afford it? Wait...... .055% on their "High Interest" account.

I like this feature. In fact, EQ bank is offering 5 free interac e-transfers per month.

Never had and don't expect to have a reason to e-transfer funds to anyone. But that's just me. Enjoy!

One can send an Interac e-transfer to oneself.

One can deposit the e-transfer to any account that accepts Interac e-transfers, like the EQ Bank Savings Plus Account.

Love e-transfers. Am trying to get our various odd-job contractors to all accept e-transfers rather than writing cheques. So far, my experience is perhaps one quarter of them are now doing that and the trend is slowly growing. Will love the day when the chequebook is gone.

Added: I've sold some stuff on online sites via e-transfer as well, and in particular, buyers buying sight unseen with shipping involved. Just have to be sure to receive the e-transfer before handing over/shipping the goods. Way cheaper than PayPal.
