This article 8 dos and don’ts for your personal finances in 2018 on the Globe & Mail website December 17, 2017, written by Rob Carrick points to this website as a resource to find "top (interest) rates"
Glad to see this site receive the recognition it rightfully deserves!

All kudos and credit goes to Peter who maintains (and most likely pays for hosting) of this site.
I think they get revenue from some ads. It might pay for some or maybe all of the maintains.
It's not like other sites that try to have ads everywhere though. The main purpose of this site seems to be spreading useful information about banks and other credit products, encourage debate and discussion about mainly savings accounts.

I would like to better understand how 'ad revenue' works. Does site get paid if I block an ad with ad blocker?
Right, some sites become completely useless due to massive amount of ads. Fortunately ad blockers keep them tame...

I think Peter only derives revenue on ad "clicks," not "views," so an ad blocker would just prevent you from seeing the ad and potentially clicking on it. I don't think he minds - he probably makes more than he used to but still I think it probably just covers the server hosting & bandwidth costs and maybe provides a modest stipend for any time he puts in. 🙂
Cheers,
Doug
