Thanks for the tip on Public Mobile, curious why I've never heard of them before - I've known about Koodo but not Public!
I am on Koodo and the last month or so the cell service has been horrendous, after 2+ years of good service. Not sure what it causing it in my area, but check with their coverage first. You would think it would be good since they are on Telus

Got Email from Fido today which is increase again but presented as a good news...

$12/day internationally
No activation required. Just use your phone like you usually do.
Available in over 125 destinations"
$7*15days=$105 while in US, every 10 seconds calla day=$7, every SMS a day=$7 and after that I can talk and talk and talk. I am so happy.....

Those rates are so tortuous - imagine being in Europe for a month - @ $12/day that would be $360 for the trip.
This past March I picked up 2 data SIM cards with 10GB of data each in Poland (1 for the phone, 1 for the tablet) at the CDN equivalent of $11.88 each. Because of the new EU roaming laws, I was able to use these packages for the entire month across 3 countries, without any additional cost.

Top it up....I got the same in Vienna, Austria for 9.95 euro...for a month.....and it also worked in Budapest.
