I'm not surprised. Who knows how much collusion there is among the big monopolies. Not enough competition and the little guys get absorbed by the monopolies.
The best deal I've found is publicmobile and the mother company is telus.

Thanks for the tip on Public Mobile, curious why I've never heard of them before - I've known about Koodo but not Public!

I am on Koodo and the last month or so the cell service has been horrendous, after 2+ years of good service. Not sure what it causing it in my area, but check with their coverage first. You would think it would be good since they are on Telus

We meek and mild Canadians have been known to accept higher prices. It is time to revolt for overpricing.

I’m happy with my cell phone service - unlimited use any time across Canada, world-wide text and video messages, for $25 + tax per month.

I'm happy too, about $75/year ($100/year but after year 4 I've got enough built up for a free year) for 250 outgoing texts/month, unlimited incoming, and I use the home landline for the occasional voice call.

Those rates are so tortuous - imagine being in Europe for a month - @ $12/day that would be $360 for the trip.

This past March I picked up 2 data SIM cards with 10GB of data each in Poland (1 for the phone, 1 for the tablet) at the CDN equivalent of $11.88 each. Because of the new EU roaming laws, I was able to use these packages for the entire month across 3 countries, without any additional cost.
