Peter, are we able to set up a folder for Canadian mortgages? I know this is not totally on the topic of "Canadian High Interest Savings Accounts", however owning a home is the greatest financial investment of one's life, so in my books very closely related to savings.
There are just so many aspects of Canadian mortgages available to be critiqued: ie: the institutions, their rates (the high, the low), the perks (cash back mortgages, mortgages offering free groceries or other perks), etc.
If this is acceptable and if a folder can be created, I would be glad to start a detailed mortgage topic, including a table of comparative rates.
Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds like something to at least try out! I find all of the mortgage offers overwhelming sometimes...
I've created a new empty forum now:

If you want to write something even more comprehensive, you could consider writing an article:

I think this is a good idea, to have a separate forum for mortgages, much like we have one for credit cards. I'm not sure if we need a chart for them - as they're always frequently changing. One site I might suggest, which I've found helpful for gauging (some of) the mortgage offers in your local area is RateSupermarket.ca. They have the big non-bank lenders, plus all of the banks; however, I can never find any rates for some of the smaller ones like Merix, MCAP, Fisgard Capital or even some of the smaller Mortgage Investment Corporations and such. Anyone else recommend any good sites?
Also, does True North Mortgage actually lend or are they just a mortgage broker? Other than them, First National Financial or Street Capital seem to always have the best rates.
Cheers,
Doug
